hey i was just wondering i seen alot of spec v's with a grounding kit what does it do? is it worth it?
Offline
does nothing and no it's not worth it
show points maybe

I disagree. I picked up the HYPER GROUND/VOLTAGE kit. Pricey, but not some cheap knock offs you see in other places.
Check out the Hyper Ground/Voltage kit site:
sunautomobile
Here is a link to my site w/ DYNO before and after the GROUND/VOLTAGE WIRE KIT.

Did you look at the dyno on my page? Only about 3whp gain, but better than nothing!

Adding WIRES to a car STRICTLY for the HORSEPOWER is lunacy. Though it might add something, so does cutting a hole in the floor and going at it flintstone style. But what it adds isn't going to translate to your 0-60 or 1/4. Tis nice to actually see a b4 and after dyno tho... haven't seen anyone post one yet for grounding kit. I'm just going to go ahead and step on the "wires give you better mpg, more hp, better torque, blah blah blah" BULLSH*T
It is worth it if you make the kit yourself ($20) AND if you're an electrical nut and hate seeing your headlights dim when you roll your windows up or if you KNOW you should get better radio reception from your head unit. It should smooth out your idle, improve radio station reception, and overall just help your electrical system work better. Just don't do it hoping to knock time of your 1/4.... it won't. :werd: :drive:

Now I don't know if your talking about me or just speaking in "GENERAL" but I agree that if you are looking at shaving your 1/4 mile time, this won't do it. And if you are talking about me, I did not mention anything about shaving my 1/4 mile time.
Just in case no one has actually went to Sunautomobile.com, READ the features and benefits of these wires...that is the reason why I did purchase them...the dyno was just a comparison of before and after.
SPECtre if you were talking $h1T...KMA! If not...have a good day.

No smak talk here :werd:
I spent alot of time doing research on these kits a while back and most of my info came from the v board and a few sites similar so I ran into a bunch of fools who were absolutely convinced that their 0-60 and 1/4 were faster because of their grounding kit.
Between their idiocy and the number of posts that loom on this subject I just wanted to put that out there right up front to get it out of the way. No target at you man, I have a kit on my car and I know my electrical system is more healthy because of it
Offline
actually if it adds 3 wheel hp and some torque it has to help ur quarter mile so your wrong spectre...think about it, more hp=faster times more torque=faster times....may not notice alot but it probably helps...
Offline
3whp will probably not help your 1/4 mile time.
Offline
What do yuo mean 3WHP won't help the1/4 mile time Hp is Hp it should help not much but it should help. this is just my opinion. 8)
Offline
I said probably won't...
He wouldn't even see a tenth come off.
Offline
yea i have heard it helps out the electrical. Plus i have a system in min so tha will help it out to. i need o gt a st. How hard are they to install?
Offline
not hard at all... 30 minutes TOPS. I recently replaced mine with thicker wires/better connectors/etc.. it's much nicer

i got the sun auto kit. specificly the hyper ground and hyper voltage GT systems. i just went to vegas for sema and with 5 total adults with full trunk of luggage i still got 28 mpg. i think that is pretty dam good. before i was getting 28 mpg with just me and my girl. so point is with a much heavier load i was still getting decent mileage.. and i didnt notice any hp increase. but the mileage thing makes a believe out of me.
Offline
heh its kinds nice to hear u get better gas milage 8)
Offline
yeah definitely. considering we got the big 2.5. once again the believe the grounding kits would help the turbo cars much more.
Offline
once again gas milage :werd:

does anyone know where i can find all my grounding points so i can upgrade mine personally
Offline
Batt to ground plate behind the batt to TB braket to Rt strut tower to alt to intake manifold.
Offline
poor koho that question seems to come up alot lately huh
Offline
cool thanks koho :D i decided to do it cause my stereo only has road noice when i turn on my lights lol
Offline
No problem
Offline
ok so i baught 10 ft of 4guage, that should be enough shouldnt it?? i was lookin at 8ga but dont think that would make all the big of a diff, sicne most of the stock wireing is 8ga and 10-12ga
Offline
well 4 gauge is bigger I'm not shour about the lenth I'll have to ck tomorrow.
Offline
yeah i know the 4ga is bigger, i figure it should give a better ground since it will let more current pass through
Offline
It has less resistance and CAN carry more current
Offline
4 guage will work...

I timed the time it takes to roll the windows up with out a grounding kit and then i did it with the kit and it takes about 2 seconds less to roll up the windows from full down.

my windows go down rediculously slow...i wonder if this will help, or if i have to replace my regulator
