You do not need a step-by-step walkthrough to do this conversion. In fact I would recommend you have an idea of what you need to do yourself instead of following step-by-step directions because it's THAT easy. There are too many blatantly easy steps to list, it's just a matter of taking things off and putting things on. With the parts-list below you should be able to do this conversion yourself easily. Some things to take into consideration that you may need: common sense, electrical know-how, minor hidden costs here and there like silicone, screws, harnesses, electrical supplies, lightbulbs, etc... Minor things that will probably come up that I haven't listed but it shouldn't be too hard to find a way around it. That's pretty much all you need in a nutshell. Again it's a very simple task, no need for step-by-step instructions.
Detailed Parts-List
Stuff you will need for the install and approximate prices paid (your shopping experience will vary):
*Headlights You can go aftermarket or OEM here. EBay is your friend. You will need to cut off both of your existing 04 female bulb harness and replace it with two male 9007 harnesses that can be purchased in any auto store. Simply match up the wires. Your headlights should come with bulbs but if they don't you need 9007. Your 04 headlight bulbs are 9008. Don't forget to aim the headlights afterwards!
Foglights Prices can vary considerably in this area. For the harnesses you can either ghetto-rig them or purchase 2 male and 2 female two-wire harnesses. I'd go junk yard hunting for these because these can easily be found in any car.
*Hood Again you can go OEM or purchase an aftermarket CF hood.
*~160 Bumper The bumper may not line up properly with the fenders (you will understand after the install) however this is noticeable on a stock 03 as well. You can simply roll up some dynamat (or whatever else)about 3/4" in diameter and place it on the black clip that's underneath to make the bumper flush with the fender. You may even opt to replace this part with a bodykit and potentially kill the need for OEM foglights.
*Paint This can vary as well. You can expect this to be even more if you need to paint your hood.
*316 Each! Lower/Upper Grilles These retail for about $316 each! You're much better off purchasing these from a junkyard or forum classifieds. You can also get custom made ones such as billet grilles sold on Ebay. I wouldn't pay more than $100 for both.
You don't need to know what the following products are exactly just purchase them and you'll see where they go and what they replace Cool . Or you can look in the picture above =p. The prices of these items may vary from one dealership to the next.
*~25 Hood prop (rod from 02-03 SE-R)
*27.37 Retainer Bar 62240-5m100
*14.19 Retainer Bar Left Bracket 62216-5m000
*14.19 Retainer Bar Right Bracket 62217-5m000
*8.90 Radiator/Grille Left bracket 21543-4z010
*8.90 Radiator/Grille Right bracket 21543-6N000
*2.02 qty-(12) Grille rentention clips 62318-28b00
You do not need fenders for this conversion. I was able to fit the 02-03 SE-R bumper over my stock 04 bumper-support(big styrofoam piece) just fine, although it was a slightly tight fit. The 02-03 SE-R bumper-support runs about $80 at the dealer. The parts-list above should provide you with basically everything you need, very easy!. If there is a gap between your fender and headlight you can try stuffing it with weather-stripping if it bothers you. Being patient is the key to a low-cost conversion because it can get very expensive. Expect the conversion to run you upwards of a $1000+. Give yourself ample time to carefully do the install and obtain the parts. Having a friend or two around helps on install-day.

OK this may be a retarded question but I could just completely swap front ends with a 02-03 spec if they wanted to have the 04+ front end, correct?

Yeah, you would just swap the components mentioned above. I did this swap in about 1 hour once I had all the parts together. Goodluck finding someone with an 02-03 who wants to swap with an 04-06 though.

What's the easiest way to find the retainer brackets for the conversion? If someone with the 03 front wants an 04 front with a CF hood and billet grille I'm willing to do it. But thanks for any help.

Im going to be doing a stright swap with another guy that has a 04. I have a 03. I have a GXE bumper now swapping with another guy for a SER. Two questions:
SE-R bumper will fit right on a gxe right?
With the 03-04 swap I wont need to buy any parts cause im doing a straight up swap. Right?

Are the parts the same on all model 02-03 sentras or would I have to get them strictly from ser's ( obviously except the bumper)?

from my understanding all b15 fenders are interchangeable, no matter spec v or gxe or any year.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I am doing a swap with someone that has an 02 SE-R Only. Now I can keep my fenders right? But my question is do I have to cut wires for the head lights and fogs?

Offline

You can keep your fenders. Dunno about the wiring, though.

Anyone else that has done this know?

hey, when you said you needed headlights and hood. you need them out of 02 to 03 correct?
Offline

Yes, you'll need a hood from 2000-2003 and 2002/3 SE-R+ headlights.

Dont forget the 03 fenders................... Just joking. You need the bumper, lights, hood and supports for bumper.
You can get a 03 CF hood, and 'JDM' lights and stuff still. As long as its for 00-03
