So the story goes I get off work raging mad, and when I'm mad i beat the shit of whatever I'm driving in any case that would be my car. So I'm flying all over the place taking corners at breakneck speed and stop by and visit a buddy of mine whos busy pressure washing side walks. We talk for a while, I calm down.... then as I'm leaving he hits the pressure washer and sprays my tires down for a burn out. As I'm sitting here thinking wtf is going on I'm revving and nothings happening... i stop and get a HUGE whiff of burnt clutch. I felt dumb but didn't think the damage was as serious till today.... I drive to fresno to do some shopping and as we arrive to our destination i get out of the car and it stinks just as bad as the night before. Then i just start yelling and cussing myself for how stupid I am and make a huge scene. I buy a pair of shoes and a jacket and drive home to only come here on MSV to tell you about my stupidity.
I have a Wanting to buy thread in the classifieds for a clutch and flywheel hit me up if you guys can refer me anywhere or have one to sell me.

does the clutch slip in say... 3rd gear around 4000-5000 rpm ? if it doesn't you're fine, the nasty ass stock clutch smell will go away eventually, covering your shame

Now that's the problem, it grabs ... just not as good. At least thats what it feels like. I'm not sure if its my nerves or i really did fuck it up. I've always taken care of my clutches... so i don't know what a clutch going out feels like. My car stinks like a mofo. Smell doesn't go away. So i am very worried naturally. I also did a 3rd gear pull on the highway and it felt like it did a quick slip and then just grabbed.

Burnt clutch smell sticks around for awhile... in fact, I still get whiffs of it in my car... a year later.
Oh, and FYI... don't buy a used flywheel.

Oh no of course not, I saw a few threads with new clutch/flywheels for sale in the last few months and now that I may need it.... there isn't any. Haha.
Gurov made me think though, I'll drive the car and see how long it lasts. "carefully" of course. That shit is expensive to replace.

when the clutch slips on a pull, your rpm shoot up, and you don't accelerate. if you can do that NA, it's fucked.

My clutch lasted over a year after the first time it slipped.Baby it and it'll last till you get a new one.And do your fw at the same time.

Will do, thanks for all the informative replies which is a big reason I like this site over the other "b15" sites that I've been to so far.
I let the car sit for awhile, after that I drove the car around and did some driving to provoke slip. Did a 6th gear pull at 40 mph, and a 3rd gear pull at 60mph. The good thing is that there was no noticeable slip when using the clutch in a normal manner. However during normal city stop and go driving the clutch does begin to smell outside and inside the car. Asked a couple knowledgeable people i knew and we reached the conclusion that the clutch is still good for passive normal cruising/driving but nothing more. We also came to the conclusion that i should replace the clutch within the next 6 months maybe a year (of course i don't think i can wait that long.)
I certainly learned my lesson and will respect the car more since it is my daily driver.
Hopefully all this doesn't set me back for another run at the drag strip next spring, I'm really wanting a 14sec pass we'll see what happens.
Once again thanks for the replies

Yes it takes for ever to get rid of the smell; Travis reported that on mine I even glazed the flywheel
Yet I got through 57,000 miles with it
You will make it
I do enjoy the new jwt clutch flywheel combo, I got with the v6
Seems to absorb anger better lol [are we all the same on this site?]

Air freshners don't even work on burnt clutch...
I dread turning on my heater later this winter, it's going to reek of last year's stock clutch... I just know it.

Not laughing at you just what the man said, try and learn a little from this.
Beating the shit out of a spec5 when you are pissed costs monies, hope your
clutch makes it man.

activated carbon should work to eliminate odor. I've heard of stoners using carbon to hide their tracks while they smoke inside the house lol

This morning I attempted to reverse out of the driveway with the parking brake on.
Yesterday I got pulled for doing 61 in a 45, apparently.

Angry driving can be bad... I once drove my car angry at 11psi... not good times. Luckily I didn't kill myself or the car.

The clutch should be called the "anger" plate. Glad to hear about the JWT combo i was thinking about saving up for that. Fidanza flywheel is a bit much.

I had a few instances of poor decision making where death was a possibility fortunately it never happened.
