Nah, you can run JWT cams just fine without any other modifications to the engine.

Who in the hell told you that you NEED a valve job? You just NEED to install them correctly, lol.

Is a garage doing the install for you?

My neighbor is a mechanic but he is like 60 yr old and I was just asking his advice, I was going to ask here anyway.

I was going to find a speed shop I guess. Can a garage do the work, Im kinda skeptical on that.

Make sure you read this; http://myspecv.com/f/t20147-for-all-you … hafts.html
Also,i suggest you read up on the QR's head before hand,so you know what your looking at going to a shop.

Any half decent shop can do cams, just make sure their not a half ass it kinda shop, cause screwing up cams can make you have A VERY BAD DAY.

Thanks dude! Now whats the best way to tune my car?
Offline

Justin

Most guys here use safc 2,because it has a knock sensor. However, you really need a wideband before you can tune.Even then, your running a piggyback A/F,which the tune can drift on.If i were you,i would concentrate on your current mod list first.Once your bolted up,tuning can give some nice bang for your buck.To tune, your gonna want;A safc2,a wideband guage, and preferably a datalogger(Dataloggers make changing your fuel correction much smarter, cause it shows you your A/F at a respective rpm).

OK sounds good, now is all that stuff user friendly or do I have to buy it and pay someone else to do it?
Offline

Justin

Its all fairly simple, but tuning is something you never get quite perfect. With the wideband, you are gonna have to get the 02 sensor wired into your exhaust. There are very detailed how-to's on here that explain it(with pictures nonetheless)even better than i can.

Right on dude! At least now I know what im going to have to do later on. So this is my plan thus far. I/E/H, BSR by JWT , Cams by JWT, Unorthodox pulleys, short shifter. Koni yellows and Eibach prokit. Big Break kit by stillen. After all that I think I will tune the car. Do you think thats a good idea? Is there anything else I can do to the car to be fully bolted.
?

I recommend you reconsider the big brake kit, because on the street and track the stock spec calipers are actually quite effective.Getting good rotors(slotted, not drilled) and good pads will make a far bigger difference than the caliper size will.Instead of the brake kit, consider the fidanza flywheel.Better bang for your buck. After that,a rear sway bar will help cornering.

Also, beware of the B&M ss,it has a known defect of breaking shifter linkage.

Another great mod is Motor mount inserts, and the rev auto engine torque damper.

Ronin

Oh really I was looking at that one too! Is there another brand you would recommend?

the faktion SS is well liked here.Me personally,i found the stock shift to be short enough

Im going to buy an intake next wk and I was sold on the AEM because of the baffle inside to help prevent hydrolock. How do you like JWT pop charger? And how much was it?

I bought mine for 100$,and i like it alot.Being a short ram,you dont ever worry about water, and it does have a nice little whine to it.The most important mod you can get is the header though, because the precat issue. It also gives you the most hp for $.

yeah I agree, im kinda sold on the stillen header with race pipe. But everyone tells me it sounds very ricey and needs a resonator to quiet it down. I just figured I lived close by to Stillen so I was just going to go there. There was a sticky I read that was all on headers, and the ones he had said where good I cant find anywhere.

I love my xs power.Stillens stuff is a bit expensive, but its entirely up to you.I like xs power because their up and coming, they sell on here, and there cheap. Also, mines over a year old and still looks fine.

Ronin

Yeah they are expensive, for sure. I'll figure it out later this is going to be a long process to get the car where I want it. Thanks for the help, it was much appreciated!!!
Time to eat dude. Peace and Love
