Turbo interchangability?

My question is, would the exhaust housing from one of those cheap chinese made turbos you can get off ebay, fit on a garrett turbocharger.... I have a Garrett 48A/R exhaust turbo laying in my garage and the turbo on my car is a piece of shit and leaking oil ( surprise.. surprise). So I want to know if I could swap the housings and use the garrett turbo?  Or would I be able to run the garrett turbo with the A/R48 housing?? i've heard that some people have that size of housing on there Spec.

Re: Turbo interchangability?

yes just depends on the turbo but the exhuast housings are the same as long as you match it to a 5-bolt garret turbo of the same size and you might have to do some clocking to get it to fit right.

once i took my turbo kit off i felt like i had just nudered a dog

yup and make sure the turbine can spin and is not contacting any sides... should spool pretty quickly with that small of a housing..
