Re: need help on what spring rate is best

Well it depends on your priorities. If you want a stiff ride to get the best out of handling and willing to sacrifice the comfort you can get something stiffer. Normally you want to keep the rear around 50-100 lbs softer than the front. Because the rear weights less then the front you dont need to be as stiff to have a tighter rear, esspecially if you have the sway bar. The regular GC rates are fine for DD with abit of fun autox. Like someone else said get a 7 inch spring and raise your car. You should have level control arms in the front. Thats a two finger gap rougly. Too low isint good for our cars. If you're really competative get something like 450f /400r or maybe even stiffer and if you find the rear still isint tight enough for your style you can make it tighter later since any eibach race spring with a 2.5 ID will work with GC coilovers. You might want to think about camber bolts or slotting your struts you can get negative camber ~1.5 degrees is a good baseline.

Alot of it comes down to personal taste. If you're really not sure i'd say get the stock GC rates in a minimum 7 inch spring and eventually you will know if you need to go higher or not. My ksports were something like 390 in front and 290 in the back and I found it was pretty neutral but someone with a different style might not have felt the rear was stiff enough. I do all my braking before the turn and dont autocross so it didint make a difference for me.

Anyways thats why you've had trouble getting an answer because you need to be the one to pick spring rates, we can't really tell you. We dont know what your comfort threshold is, your application, if you brake early or late, etc... You should have an idea where to start now.

Re: need help on what spring rate is best

im getting 350/400 a little stiffer than stock GC springs at 7 inches it will probably be a bit rough but will be pretty good for autox. and i think im going to have the 400 in the rear to help rotate the car a litte better. if i dont like it i can always swap the front and rears

Re: need help on what spring rate is best

Yeah autox is a different world of handling since the corners are tighter than what you will get on a road course or running canyons. Alot of auto x guys get stiff rears.

Re: need help on what spring rate is best

this is what i like about kon/gc you can play with it in so many different ways and find the very sweet spot for you. With a rear sway bars installed on your car i think you will oversteer with that setup just try it anyway...because i already have the 375front and 300rear plus the rsb and 4points lower front tie bar. my car oversteer whenever i put my konis in the very middle of soft and stiff settings and turn my car really hard on corners. if i go full stiff settings its almost perfect with no oversteer. I could feel all four tires slipping off at the same time going on down hill corners

Also progressive and linear is like ride comfort+street performance for progressive(like our stock springs) and racing performance for linear
