I'm creating a topic here because I know nothing about electrical wiring so Im totally a newb in this regard.
I was wondering if it was possible to wire in a switch either into the dash or even into the engine bay to turn the abs on/off at will. Just uinplugging the sensors is ghetto and I want to have control more easily, in some situations ABS is beneficial (winter when im not paying attention in traffic) but in others I would like to be able to lock my wheels...such as in left foot braking.
That brings me to the other topic. I understand people are cutting a wire into the ECU to enable brake boosting/LFbing, does anyone know what wire that is on an 03 spec? I know some people have done it in an 04 but it might be different for an 03. Has anyone done that so that the brake lights still work and no problems with the ecu after?
Thanks guys!

just pull the abs fuse out and you wont have abs.
and what do you want to brake boost for being n/a?

Just have to find out what fuse then I guess...shows how much I know about electronics.
Brake boosting I wanna do is actually Left foot braking to get the rear out instead of handbraking for the winter in the snow and for gravel.

faint motion and hit the brakes that always works for me.lol but abs is not a problem for me...
umm brake boosting? you have vacuum brake booster already

he means brake boosting.. Like build boost on a turbocharged car while pushing th brake so it spools the turbo at a roll, then let off the brake and bam full boost.
Lifes to short to drive a shitty car, get in a Spec V-T

heh, I dont know why, but ive been able to do left-foot braking and not have the throttle cut off at all. i dont know if its supposed to happen, but eh. im not complaining!

^^ probably because you have no ABS?

no...i have ABS. trust me, i know. its helped me when i wasnt paying attention...so i do have ABS. and Left foot braking! so best of both worlds. i may not understand why, but i dont mind at all!

There's no reason to left foot brake......

left foot braking should only be used at the apex of the turn to limit understeer and help rotate the car, but if it is applied too hard or with too much steering input, you will just increase the chance of understeering into a tree.
ps screw abs it sucks. you can stop faster without it

yeah, you dont want to play with left foot braking on the street if you dont know what youre doing.

thats what i was trying to say

The reason I want to have left foot braking is because of all the snow here and my car loves to understeer in the snow, I use the handbrake but I know LFB is better handling wise than using the handbrake. I will be using the LFB to limit understeer in the snow and get the rear to rotate out more. I also use my car for navigational rallies and would like to be able to get the abck to rotate for the winter events and on gravel.
So....which wire do I cut for the ECU on an 03 spec?

don't cut the wire just pull the abs fuse out of the fuse box, cause that's the only thing it is hooked to, then you can plug it back in if you want to have abs or to pass inspection.
if you hate abs that much sell your spec and buy one with brembos they don't have abs

Its the wire for the left foot braking I want to cut.

Ok so I finally figured out its wire 40 which shoud be red with green strpes and i can get to that when i pull the ecu.

Thanks to everyone who guided me here. I had the chance sunday to disable the brake wire.
I opened up the ecu and carefully remove the harness from the ecu. The little harness cover is a bitch to get off. Theres also a wire held to the inside of the engine compartment against the fender with a zip tie equipped with a little plastic nub to hold it in place which was a bitch to get out so I could remove the ecu cover from the firewall. Anyways I got into the harness and was able to cut wire 40, I left about an inch of wire going itno the pin incase I have to re-solder the wire and taped up the ends to prevent a short. I got everything back together with minimal stress. I would not recommend openining the ECU if you dont have someone who has done it with you because it was the scariest thing I have ever done on cars since everything is breakable.
I almost died because when I went to start the car it wouldint and i figured I messed up bigtime but it was just a bad connection on the battery negative terminal and then started and has run fine since! Im sort of afraid it will go into limp mode or something on a long drive if the ecu doesnt detect a brake signal but others have said they had no problems. The only damage done was a peice of plastic that got chipped off the ventalation hose attachment point on the ecu cover. Overall not recommended unless you really know what left foot braking is and feel you need/want to be able to do it enough to do this "mod".

there is no need for left foot braking in the snow... in this car that will induce snap oversteer and will do more harm then anything or your continue going in the direction you didn't wnat t be going facing the other way..
Also you brake boosting only applies to f/i

I know that brake boosting is stricktly FI but those were the only guys who knew how to get that wire cut, so its the same procedure.
I disagree with the snap oversteer...obviously I have yet to havet he chance to practice alot on this car in the snow (montreal and we dont have 2 feet of snow yet? WTF!) but that would go against the principles of the technique when used properly. I know a few members have used the technique extensively on gravel (obviously more traction then snow but the principle is the same).
I realize this will take practice but it is more predictable than the e-brake. Also note im not running a rear sway bar or anything.
I appreciate the caution though and will practice this in a vacant lot nearby once I get a good snow. It should be helpful for me to get out of understeer situations when I am doing navigational rallies on backroads this winter.
EDIT*** Just so I'm clear I know this meathod will induce oversteer depending on the gas/brake ratio but should not "snap" out...unless you want it too and imput the right amnt of brake/throttle to acheive that. Think of the handbrake but controled.

well practice will help but the car does have a tendcy to snap oversteer, it has such good handling that anything over the limit is a serious issue. The liveaxel doens't provide the same feed back you would get form a wishbone so you feel it less and ended up with the over steer before you know it. My old control arms hate me for it.
