Port and polishing intake mani and throttle body

im planning on taking the n/a route and what to get as much horsepower out of my n/a engine. would port and polshing my intake mani make a reasonble gain in horsepower? would it be a good idea to send it to that PnP company that does them. and for the throttle body, do they just port it or can they polish that also?

I've got one already ported, I haven't had a chance to test it on the dyno yet.

Re: Port and polishing intake mani and throttle body

doing the tb is kind of touchy.

i used to do the upper and lower, imo just gasket matching would be plenty for going n/a.

imo just save your money and boost.

There's an idle problem to get around, but there's a way around that.  The one Justin did for me ran fine going down the road, no idea of the gains cause we never got a chance to test it.  We will be at some point though.

I have a ported IM & TB... I NEVER had any idle problems even when I was N/A...

The ported IM & TB can net some gains... It definitely did on my car.

I dynoed with I/H/E/JWT cams/JWT BSR/UR pulley/SAFC-II and I got 171whp

Than I dynoed with I/H/E/JWT cams/JWT BSR/UR pulley/SAFC-II/WRP P/S pulley/Ported IM/Ported TB and I got 180whp

from what ive heard the thing that causes idle problems when porting the tb is if you move the butterfly in the tb. When having it done or doing it just make sure not to move it

Yeah, my ported TB is the one Big J did, which removed some pieces on the throttle plate.  We did find a way around the idle issue.  The IM hasn't been put on or tested yet.
