02 Spec-V Brembo Conversion (Question)

hey everyone im planning on doing a brembo upgrade to my 02 spec. the main thing i was wondering is about the rotors. i know the 02 specs came with 11 in. rotors and the 04-06 with the brembo option came with 12 in. rotors. if i put brembos on my spec would i have to change my rotors as well or will they still work with my stock 11 in  rotors???

my other question was if i was to buy the 12 in. rotors from the 04-06 spec for my car would the calipers still bolt up normally or is it a different bracket??

Re: 02 Spec-V Brembo Conversion (Question)

you will have to get the bigger rotors and the different bracket to mount the brembo calipers. also, if you still have the 02-03 spec v wheels, you will need either aftermarket wheels or the 04-06 spec v wheels. there is not enough clearance with the 02-03.

Re: 02 Spec-V Brembo Conversion (Question)

you don't need brackets they mount right on... i know from experience. you will need new rims and 12" rotors.

Re: 02 Spec-V Brembo Conversion (Question)

FYI, the rear rotors are larger on the rear for Brembo factory equipped Specs. Same rear caliper (placed further out) and same rear pads,

Re: 02 Spec-V Brembo Conversion (Question)

you will need a bracket to push the caliper out. r1rider did something like this. but still it wasn't perfect. the larger rotor is to dissipate heat, the pads are still the same size.

You'll need to replace the entire rear caliper to do the rear swap. The caliper bracket is actually part of the caliper it’s self. The functioning part of the calipers (piston assembly) is the same on non Brembo / Brembo equipped specs but you cannot order the bracket section separately. (Believe me; I tried to get them to do it when I did my conversion. Each piece has a separate part number but cannot be ordered individually.)

thanks for the info man. i had no idea it was like that. so pretty much if i wanna do that i would have to order 04-06 rear calipers with that bracket as a whole assy.

Yes you would need to order the entire "brembo" option rear calipers and rear rotors. This can get a little pricey. I noticed the other day that fastbrakes.com has a rear upgrade for non-brembo cars that includes a caliper adapter and larger rotors for $190.
