The balance shaft spins in the opposite direction of the motor at 2x the speed (i.e. if the motor is at 6k the balance shaft is at 12k) removing it allows the engine to rev quicker giving you the feeling of more power

the balance shaft assembly is this thing in the oil pan that is connected to the crank. it spins really really fast to try to counteract the vibrations caused from the crankshaft. it adds more rotational mass on the car, so when you take it out it frees up a little bit of power. they make the balance shaft removal kit which allows you to take it out, but you could also just cut the chain and leave it in the oil pan. only downside to this is you will get worse vibrations at idle and while driving the car.

The balance shaft is connected to your crack and spins twice as fast as your rpm's and balances out your motor's vibrations and could cause problems when you keep going to the rev limiter or want to have a higher rpm cut off. So by getting rid of it you free up horsepower and have a tiny bit of vibration on the pedals and the steering wheel not bad at all IMO and it is a noticeable gain too.

I would actually recommend this mod as the balance shaft can actually break up at high rpm and cause damage to the motor. It's well worth the extra vibrations and I hardly even notice a difference.

true and theres no downside to cutting your chain?..seems a bit...strange

If you cant deal with teh extra vibrations from the BSR mod, your a pussy. The vibes are SERIOUSLY not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. I have had TD, solid motor mounts, and the TD actually gives you worse vibes than solid motor mounts.
