Re: power steering rack

i wouldn't put a reman part on my car. and $300 to put in it's too much. that work usually is $150-$200

Re: power steering rack

The problem is the same as with any rebuildable part-sometimes they don't get it right. It would suck if you went thru all that work/spent all that money to have it done only to have a defective rack a few months later.

For what it's worth though, I had a remanufactured rack in my car since 2003 and I didn't have any issues [until now but I don't know for sure if the steering rack is causing it].

I dunno man I'm kinda with SE-R Racer on this, I have used reman. parts before, not on my spec, but when I had my Accord, I got a steering rack and 2 front axles that were re-manufactured and didn't really have any problems, but I have heard of that stuff going out fairly quickly. I didn't really care because I was planning on getting rid of it anyways smiley-smile

Edit: When I was working at GM, some of the alternators they sold were reman...sometimes we'd see the same vehicle in with the rebuilt alternators going out within 6 months. That's GM though, but thought I'd put it out there.
