Re: built engine, sleeved block, running pretty hot

The only thing I would suggest is more fan power for now and later on u may need to purchase racing all aluminum koyo and 1.3 bar rad cap to keep temp down!! But look into the honing of the water pump outlet passage to the block might just need a combination of a bunch of things!! Also even a oil cooler!

Re: built engine, sleeved block, running pretty hot

Another suggestion that I can contribute is try richening it up a little bit if that won't kill your performance. After I reset my fuel trims mine started running pig rich but my temps went down about 10-15 degrees

I'm running the darton sleeves, and have been for four or five months now, my car runs on average at about 185-190, idling in traffic on a hot summer day maybe hit 200, factory radiator, stockwater pump with no drilling or honing, nothin fancy how ever I did eliminate coolant going to the heater core, by by heat, when you dynoing that bad boy, what cams are you running? Trav claims he can get some one off cams but he don't respond to my PM's, I really need some cams

Re: built engine, sleeved block, running pretty hot

if you are going to run radiator relief i would suggest going more like 70/30 because it would greater increase the effectiveness of the additive. I ran 50/50 and radiator relief and lost about 4-6 degrees average in the block

Re: built engine, sleeved block, running pretty hot

There has got to be a way to do it with the stock stuff.  I am running AEBS sleeves and never over heated.  Granted it runs hotter in the summer but once I am moving the temps stay below 220*.  I do have an oil cooler which prob helps and the only other mod I have is flex-a-lite slim fans.  I run 14.7+ at cruise so I can factor that out as a possible cooling source.  Nothing special about the water mix either.

Next step, yeah I know I'm gonna hear it., I'm putting vents in the hood.  That will keep the engine from baking in it's own juices.

Re: built engine, sleeved block, running pretty hot

i believ you can adjust the average coolant temps with the Consult II... since you changed your thermostat idk if itll still work, but i think i was playing around with my temps one day at school.

edit: your running standalone so idk if your ecu even controls that anymore but if not check it out

Re: built engine, sleeved block, running pretty hot

im right there with you pimp, stock lower t stat and gutted upper.im seeing between 195- 210 in traffic/ slow driving. ive also learned that if im turning more revs in slow driving it runs cooler, gotta be because the water pump is circulating more water. about the only thing im doing different from you is running a straight ater mix, with a couple of ounces of water wetter. no antifreeze for me.

Our turbo cams are 595.00, and take around 2 weeks to grind.

Re: built engine, sleeved block, running pretty hot

Anything under 220 is ok... 200 is nothing major.. You're going to run hotter with sleeves.  When you sleeve a QR block, you completely change the way that the coolant system is designed to work.  It will still cool, but, you won't be in the 180's anymore.
