oil leak

I am having this presistant oil leak that I cannot find. when ever I get on the car it will soak the front of the block. there will be oil from the crossmember to the pulley and up to the large coolant line that runs under the manifold and back to the LTB. Its not alot oil as most time I dont even notice the oil level dropping. In my searching I have completely eliminated the feed and return lines, I dont see anything coming from the pan although there is oil on it. the oil is concentrated near the dipstick area. I am thinking maybe its the seal where the dipstick goes into the pan or its a seal on the upper pan.
before you say to check that I am not pressurizing the crank case by way of the valve cover vent. Its not I dont even have it connected. Shot me some ideas. because me ans Specvwannabe and another buddy will be removing the DP to get a better look this week end.

Re: oil leak

Go to a car wash, and pressurewash undeath the engine right there.   Then,  drive the car around for 10-15 min, drive into the shop and onto the lift, and watch.

Re: oil leak

get UV oil dye.

thats what i did to find my oil leak.

clean the block down, put uv dye in oil, drive down the block and back, turn off car, black light the front of the block (best done at night) and there's your leak.

Re: oil leak

wow older post, but thanks for the help. I figured out what it was. i probley should have updated it for anyone who sees it while searching.

Anyway I have fixed the problem. overtime from installing and removing the turbo and dp i moved tha dipstick and the weld that holds the bracket that attaches the dipstick to the alt mount broke. when that broke it allowed the dipstick to sit just slightly cock eyed enough so that the seal didnt work anymore. it was such a small hole that it actualy sprayed the oil in a mist everywhere. thats why it was so hard to find where it was coming from. Its a easy fix just got a new dipstick tube and seal ($11) and some ultra gray. sealed up up nice and let it dry for several hrs. Now i have no more oil leaks smiley-smile
