Well it all started today, I got in my car to go pick up my son from school, turn the ignition, kicked over once then 'click'. "Shit" I didnt know what was wrong, I had the radio on from a while and notice the subs were going off and on so I knew it must be the battery. When my wife came home for lunch after picking up my son, I gave my car a jump, left it running and was on my way to Autozone. Ok, so I stoped at a light one mile away from the store and the car dies on me, Im in the left lane and both my boys in the car with me, so I panic and start getting frustrated, push my car over the side of the road, about ready to kick the shit out of my door panel but notice a Firestone across the street. Oh and I pulled over in a 2 hr zone and my windows are left down. I go over to Firestone , find out the sell battery's, get one and end up paying a little more than I would have spent at Autozone. After paying I asked the guy if he can help me out and take it over to my car across the street(since my 1 year old is already in my arms). No problem, I change the battery, it starts up fine, I drive my car over to the shop to test the alternator, its also fine, he tests the old battery and said its junk, so im like damb, I only had it for almost 4 years, but whatever. I cant wait to get home, so Im driving. Going down a two way street and suddenly some bitch makes a left hand turn right in front of me. I slam on my brakes, swerve on the side of the road in the dirt barely missing her. So Im pissed right tell my oldest to close his hears, cuss this bitch out and take off once more to my house and damn its been a fucked up day. But anyway my battery only lasted 3 years 10 months 36K.

Battery died at ~60K miles. Alternator at ~62K.
If you suspect one or the other are bad, remove both and get them tested. Speaking from experience here.

I hope my alternator doesn't go bad any time soon because it's going to be such a pain in the ass to remove because of the lower bolt being stripped, and a 4 foot pry bar prying agains the bolt and air ratchet not getting it out..... Apparently, there's no bracket the alternator bolts to, it's the water pump... So I'd probably have to replace that aswell

i replaced mine a week ago, now it sits in my apartment so i can power up random things lol. BUt mine was stock 02, 90k miles, and i overtightened the battery tiedown once and crushed it a little bit lol.
replaced the alternator too, somehow all of the bolts that hold the thing together came out and were missing so like you could clock the alternator.

When I bought the car new in 03 the factory battery was dead. It was a showroom car they couldn't even drive it out of the showroom. The replacment battery just went on me at 90,000miles 5 1/2 years.

60k, alt charging voltage and battery are still awesome shape. Good voltage and not issues. Just remember to keep that battery clean, and not to let the battery completely discharge too many times. I'd also suggest cleaning the ground cable and contact points every once an a while. Ever little bit helps.
