so gurovs got his hands full and ive decided i want to make one megasquirt box. So i was thinking i should probably try something a bit different from his current boxes and came upon the idea of making it plug and play. By plug and play i mean once you wire the box in it should be pretty tuned. A bit of precision tuning will be needed to be done to compensate for mods and fine tune for your individual engine, but this unit should allow stock drivability out of the box.
THe box will be pretty much be a specialized version of gurovs box designed for people with 440cc injectors to have a predone map and settings.
It will support:
launch control
boost control (will have to source own solenoid)
secoondary controller if desired
fan control
map switching
what the buyer car must have:
440cc injectors
no cams
wideband with output
preferably a walbro 255lb fuel pump
so if you interested in a megasquirt but are afraid of doing a start from scatch tune on your car, this is the option for you. I am only interested in making one of these so PM me if your interested and we can work this out.

is this f/i specific or for n/a? or does that not matter

need 440 cc injectors for it to work, but it doesnt matter n/a or f/i all that much i suppose.

Would you probable make more later?

Did you and gurov decide on a method of launch control? Last I heard was that the wastespark relay circuit wasn't perfected, and was providing a weak, non-square-wave signal to the coil packs. What is the current design, because this is the last thing I've seen.

this is still up in the air, i've got a working schematic in tina that would drive this, i just need to hook some stuff up on a bench (coil packs, ms, and a proper signal generator, which i actually have now thanks to an arduino)

i will probably not make any more but all my maps are/will continue to be turned over to gurov for use on his units. For the most part any megasquirt unit from either of us is plug and play for people with 400cc injectors. I just actually advertised the fact.
The launch control will probably be left as fuel cut on mine pimp until further developments.

so sinc you guys havent finalized the launch control, i assume its not gonna be included with the megasquirt/gsquirt packages people are ordering now.
but in the future once the feature is available, how hard would it be for the first generation buyers to get the launch control feature on their ms

the launch control does work. It works fine and i have used it a few times. The thing with it right now is me and gurov are trying to switch over to ignition drop instead of fuel cut. but ignition drop is not needed for launch control and my box will ship with a working fuel drop launch control. Timing drop will require a good bit of additional modifications outside of the ms as well, as ignition will need to be converted to waste spark.

so your planning on offering a pre-tuned megasquirt boxes, because when i think plug and play i think of something that does not have to be "wired in" by the user

yea, lol i thought about that after i made the post... plug and play can be done on 04+ but your talking another $400=$500 gurov was going to do one for inspected but it didnt turn out

doing a full plug and play using stock wiring and electronics (excluding stock ecu) is no simple task. I made a few for the 95-99 neons and I spent a few weeks studying up on the wiring harness, what does what, what gets it power from what, etc. etc. and when I finally made my first one I still had problems with it staying on after I turned the car off and took the key out. I personally would not do another one off plug and play for less then 600 for just making it plug and play

The wiring of the ms is simple. There are instructions floating around here for what ECM pins to tap, etc...

no its easy for 04 plus. Since they use the same ecu as the 350z someone makes an ECU harness extender that you can just buy and it will plug right in. Then you do the wiring to that and voila. gurovs got one.

I'm wondering is this the harness that gurov used: http://www.autosportwiring.com/nissan.htm ?
