CVTC ?

Hey guys just wondering what the CVTC sounds like. I think when it kicks in, there this loud deep noise that comes out of your engine right ? At what RPM does it kick in ?

CVTC is continous... it's always there.

Re: CVTC ?

CVTC is not like VTEC. it does not make a noise, rather, it continously optimizes the timing of your motor for efficient performance. what you hear is the secondary butterfly valves opening.

Re: CVTC ?

it is not. CVTC is a computer process, where VTEC is mechanically activated. big difference.

From what I heard we don't have secondaries.

Re: CVTC ?

We don't have secondaries from what I've gathered, and CVTC is nothing like VTEC and makes no additional noise.

No.  I'm gonna explain this as simply as I can.  CVTC modifies intake cam timing by retarding or advancing the cam.  When you put your foot in it, it can advance the intake cam 20+ degrees.  Toyota's system is more like VTEC as it's an on/off system.  CVTC is always running, and adjusts based on a number of factors like throttle position.  Understand now?
