Well i just finished making my rear upper strut bar for $20.
I saw someone else had done this and decided to do it myself
Time:
Took me approx 45min to 1hr
Tools:
-Drill w/ 3/8" bit
-2 Ratchets (you will need it to loosen and tighten the bolts on the bar.)
a size 12 for the ratchet i believe and the bolt size on the bar might differ.
-Sharpie
-Sharp Knife
-Plenty of light. You will be crawling around your trunk
Step 1: Order the bar off of ebay. Notice the end brackets in the picture below. It is a half circle.
This compare 2 different types of brackets. top one will defniately work, bottom one might not work.
Step 2: Take the bar apart. Should be 1 adjustable bar and 2 brackets. Use the 2 ratchets to take the bar apart.
Step 3: Cut a hole in the Carpet where the bolts should be. You can get a general idea in pictures below.
Step 4: I removed the top bolt out of my trunk and screwed it back in with the bracket reversed. (screw
holes on bracket will face in, not out.)
Step 5: Attach the bar to the brackets and make sure it adjusted so it is tight. Rember the tighter the bar the stiffer your suspension is.
Step 6: I used a sharpie and marked on the bracket where the lower hole will be drilled.
Step 7:Drill the hole in the bracket. i used a 3/8" drill bit. Bolt should fit perfectly.
This is what the bar will look like roughly with the bar attached. (i just quickly photoshopped it to give you an idea.)
Step 8: Install the brackets back into the trunk with both top and bottom bolts.
Step 9: Install the adjustable bar into the brackets. And you are done.
**Remember again. The tighter you are able to get the bar into your trunk the stiffer your car is and less roll.

Steady:
i take the same route to work every day. there are some pretty tight corners on my way. It defnitaly handles better. i can that them a lot faster and harder than before. a few of my friends noticed the difference as well.
limp_noodle:
As for any bar working just make sure on the ends what i had to do is take off the ends and flip them in. then drill the hole. i notice a lot of the bars on not a full 1/2 circle. that is what worked best for me.

Hmm ... not bad. Little less stable than a 4 pt trunk bar but not bad for the price i guess..

I have to admit, I'm normally not one to care too much for other's "how-to"s. I dig yours. Especially since it's cheap as SHIT. lol
Good job man.

what do you mean like clearance? it comes up about 1-2" at most. clears the stock sub if you have it.

there are plenty of $20 suspension bars for sale on ebay that are adjustable. i am sure you can find one that will work.

There was a thread on here about those who made their own trunk bars.... anyways here is mine. Its from a 97 Accord rear upper strut bar, I paid 40 for mine.

If it were a strut bar wouldnt it be connected to the struts. Cause if it did it would be ultra badass
