I talked to my dad's friend who is a mechanic about this. Apparently when they installed my rims, they did a static balancing, which is those sticky weights. My dad's friend told me to take it back, and tell them to do a dynamic balance. He said this will balance the wheel more accurately, and the only downside is that I'll have an ugly weight on the rim. Anyone have opinions on this, static vs dynamic?

its just that they balance the weight on the front and the back which is why the wheel weights will be there. that is the best way but it will be more ugly. if you dont feel any vibrations keep the sticky weights.

I made a post about this in the brakes section also. Lately, there have been vibrations. I looked at the weights, and none of them have come off. I don't know what it is, I just know the vibration isn't any more intense while I brake.

is the vibration over 55mph? 99% of the time that is the wheel balance only at highway speeds. if you are having other vibrations below highway speeds and its not the brakes, you may have a bent wheel

The vibration below 55 is very minor, it becomes more apparently above 55. I am taking it to the wheel shop tomorrow to see what is going on. I don't think the wheel is bent, my best guess is the balancing or the brakes.

if it becomes more noticeable it may be the balance. how many miles are on the tires? over time when you lose tread the balance is thrown off bc it was balanced when the tire had more on it.

tires have about 10.5k miles on it. The rims however, have about...3k on them.

hmmm that's strange. if you havent felt any vibrations when they were first mounted then they shouldnt be off balance now. they recommend every 6 months but i never did it for 20k miles and never felt a thing. gluck with everything

Dynamic balancing is always going to be better.
It may not be the balance at all, but how the tires are wearing. Run your hand around the tire. You may have some cupping/feathering of the tread if it feels rough. That can cause a vibration because the tread is not smooth.... It's caused by not rotating your wheels when you're supposed to or bad alignment...
Where do you feel the vibration at? If it's in the steering wheel it's the front, if you feel it in the seat then it's most likely from the rear.

It was in fact the balancing, which is weird because I didn't throw any weights. They rebalanced them, and I haven't had any issues.
