So this question is about my other car, but since breaks are pretty much universal...
So my 2006 Kia Sorento has had warped rotors, has had them for a long time now. Its getting really bad so I'm gonna take the rotors off and have them shaved for 5 bucks a peice. The car shakes when breaking on the highway and you can feel the uneven-ness of the stop even at slow speeds. My worry is that they will be so bad that I will have to replace the rotors completely, as well as the pads. I have a new set of pads but the old ones dont need to be changed. There is still plenty of material left, but then again they may be the problem.
I'm thinking I'm just gonna turn the rotors and leave the old pads on cuz that will only cost me like 20 bucks, whereas if I turn the rotors and replace the pads and that does not solve the problem I will have to buy new pads AND rotors. Just wondering what you guys think would be the cheapest route. Thanks

Turn your rotors and leave the old pads on. You shouldn't have to buy new rotors unless they are seriously gouged/out of spec. If your pads are not seriously worn down, they should not have to be replaced at all.

Just turn the rotors. If you go to a shop don't be suprised if they try to sell you pads. Just go in there saying all you want is to turn your rotors.
