I searched for a bit and didn't see anything. So on to... what I hate about my spec v.
1. That I get 28-29mpg TOPS when I see larger displacement cars and others that SHOULDN'T be getting better than me, getting better than me. Example, VQ35. I get about 26 while at the same speed and a heavier car, it gets 28-29.
2. Rattles. Holy shit does this car rattle thanks to the BSR mod. I swear I kinda wish I didn't do it. My main speed on the interstate is 75-80mph. At those speeds, I'm wearing ear plugs (exhaust and powerband) and I am cursing the rattles in my car. I SWEAR I'm about to take Gorilla glue to every peice that does it.
3. I used to love the fact that I was a rare car. In fact I still do. So, my current gripe about it, I'm seeing Specs and SE-Rs EVERYWHERE. I can't go 15 minutes now without seeing 3-4 of them. I would see 1.8s all over the place. Now, well.... I'm starting to be associated with a crowd I don't like. Hint, they did a lot of bad things with civics.
4. Space. I think I'm just growing or maturing, but damn it, I want some usable space in the back. I'm contemplating removing my stock RF sub just to get the space in the trunk.
5. Recalls. Nissan needs to own up to what has been going wrong with this car. Cats, butterflies, ECM problems (02-03s) MAF problems... so on and so forth. You guys know who you are. The ones who have a problem, then go to Nissan and the first thing is normally along the same line as this... "Well, because you modified your muffler, your engine is burning oil and it's all your fault."
6. Quality. Is it hard to make decent plastics that doesn't degrade like a (insert your own race)ian woman who hit 30.
7. The fact that, for some frickin reason, our cars just don't respond all that well to any mods other than F/I or some equally craziness that is normally pretty far out of our price range. No, we can't all afford Turbo's and the such.
8. Cheap ass paint that doesn't last worth shit.
9. Resale value.
10. Those god forsaken damn near useless fucking cupholders!
While I do have my hates of this car, I also have the things I love. I've seen MANY threads about "What do you love about your spec?" Well, here's the hating thread.
Add what you guys want. I'm so ready for something better.

i hear you man, but i love my spec. it's just a dd. when i pay this thing off i am going to buy another car without a trade in. i am going to run the spec until the wheels fall off.

hate the rattles also. and the low potential for N/A mods.

I'm getting a bit sick of mine I have to admit. No room, rattles all the time, no resale value, and I agree on the gas mileage. My buddy has a Saab 9-3 Aero with a twin turbo V-6 and he gets right around the same as me. On the other hand though, I do like the car over all. It's pretty fast imo, fun to drive, handles very well, and is a rare car to see at least in my area. I'm going to get something more versatile when I get out of college, prob. move to the dark side of SUV's and trucks, thinking an Xterra or Frontier.

I think its me maturing or something, but i have been looking at new maxima's, new 2 door accords, or older 2 door g35's. I love my car, i wont trade it though, i just think im startin to feel attatched to a crowd im not part of for the same reasons you are brandon.
Gas mileage is horrible(even shifting before 2k and skipping gears without going heavy on the throttle %)
more rattles than the baby section at walmart
looks like a toy car(but i love it still)
wayyyyy to heavy of a car, its not that our motor does horrible(had this arguement with a couple of my honda hatch owner buddies) its that its lugging around almost 3k pounds of car and person
The dumbest thing i hate about our car is the retarded rear beam suspension. Who does that anymore? For all you people that think our cars handle awesome, without being a shit head and trying to argue with me, go drive just about any honda and see how much better they handle and turn
Everything else i love bout the car lol

glad somebody mentioned the cupholders. i've actually contemplated making a custom center console (but one that would still look fairly stock) just so i could relocate them... bout the best use for them i've found is just to hold my phone or mp3 player...
anyone else get really good at driving a manual trans and hold a drink at the same time?

My number one thing is the paint. I'm notorious for my OCD when it comes to keeping a clean car, and it's just fucking impossible with Nissan's shitty black paint and clear coat. Not to mention the fact that the car has orange peel like a mofo - from the factory.
Other than that, I can live with everything it throws at me. I may not love driving it all of the time, but when the tranny is shifting smoothly, the paint looks great for once, shes running well, and its a nice sunny day out and I'm cruising, she makes up for it.

NOISE, CUP HOLDER, YOU GUYS NAMED it all!!! but the most hate i have for this car is the pre Cat, butterflies, ECM problem issue.. plus Gas gusler...

Honestly.. It WAS kind of silly for nissan to make a sports model sentra.. which I can understand why they did it, but how the did it is the problem.. The interior is shotty, Plastic bits never go on the same way they came off, the seats stain every chance they get, and Most of all, I know you all have already said it but the rattles.. if you even have exhaust HOLY SHIT a 2 hour drive will drive you nucking futts! Just a cheaply pieced together car. Paint peels, once body pieces start to come off it's hard to keep them on, and honestly why make a car with the insignia of 'Spec V'(Which is american v-spec for those of you who don't know that already) that will break down after you get down on it for a little while... Iv'e had a vast sundry of problems.. about 20 different sensors go out(pet peave is that everything is fucking electronic), A piston arm has broke, oil leaks, and all else. As to where my friends 2002 honda civic EX Can be treated like shit all day every day and never experience a problem. And most of all has been my experience with nissan dealership, their mechanics fuck you any which way they can.. "This subwoofer you installed is causing your multi-cylander misfire, you fucked it up!" sound familiar anyone?

What i hate the most (apart from the rattles) is that it is a 4 door car with the interior space of a 2 door coupe. I'm 6ft tall and I just don't fit in the car. Other than that I haven't had any issues with it even with all the abuse it goes thru. I also hate the fact that I will have to keep until it breaks in pieces just because the car isn't worth a penny.

Lots of hate on this car in this thread haha...
I've also considered getting rid of this car but i can't. It's a fun car, regardless of the rattles and gas mileage. I do however want another car or truck. When my car gets paid off a whole new generation of "green" cars are suppose to come out so we'll see whats up. If anything looks cool like the "hybrid" altima... or cars of the like.

maybe i havent had mine for years, but i stil love it, even with BSR and MMI's. the vibrations give me back a massage and make my friends almost scared to get in my car cause it seems so fast. i love it! rattles are just your engine wanting to go!
gas mileage is great. dont compare to hondas with 1.7l engines, our is almost TWICE the size cylinder-wise.
space? im taking out my backseat to fit my snowboard in the car, and putting my 12' sub down below in the back seat

screw that... i just wanna get a SAFC and i'll boost my gas mileage... i refuse to ever buy a hybrid, as they do not get all that great of gas mileage for what they are intended... the technology exists to make vehicles get much better fuel mileage, but the manufacturers do not care. lately, they are forced to act like they do. honestly, if a 1980-something civic gets better mileage than these 'greener' cars or the hybrids, then there is seriously a problem...

1980's civics however weighed close to nothing.
Our gas mileage problem stems from Power to weight. If manufacturers can solve that issue or some how mass produce a carbon fiber like substance that's strong we'll be alright.

I don't see the problem with dealerships and aftermarket mods. I just had my motor replaced, and got my car back today. No problems what so ever until I got my new motor installed and the SES light was on for the header, then they bitched, but didn't even attempt to try and void my warranty.
had 26k miles on the motor...... now i have a 0 mile brand new motor, well its got 130 miles on it today hehe

The only thing I hate about my SpecV is the useless cupholders... You cant put anything else there beside a 12oz can...
Otherwise, this car was cheap, has a great TQ, 6-speed, HLSD, its decent looking unlike the B16...lol, is super easy to work on and you can run 10+ psi on the stock block without issues...
From my perspective the pros outweigh the cons

But my windows rattle, my engine is shit (pre-cat), my butterflies where fine when I checked them but I shouldn't of had to check them. And my A/C doesn't work but, I'm just gonna rip it out now anyways.
Has anyone else notice a huge diff when they put rotors on? I dont know how much they weigh but mine are heavy ass f***, EBC GB's, I got rotors, rims and tires and I can feel every little imperfection, and they hit Hard, even when I'm going slow.

LOL the gas mileage "Problem"(since when is 26-30 a problem?) is due to the specs stock ecu tuning rich, not the power to weight ratio.

well, i guess cuz if u get a 1.8 or 2.0 it won't do the same power as the 2.5, but the real issue here is that if u buy, it is cuz u like it, right??, well, then why complain now??. it's cool to have the sport package, but also it's fun to take a base car and mod it
, i guess people choose the spc v cuz it has half work done from stock u know, the 6speed, the rims, the sporty suspension.

Uh,i chose the spec for the LSD,wich is a pita to do yourself and can get expensive.sometimes it is cheaper to get a "Sport" model and go from there.Boltons are easy, but swapping motors and trannys is not, especially if you dont have a garage to work with. The base models can be nice to work on,but it all depends on the car too.The fact is the spec is cheap, fun, and pretty reliable.I would have had to do considerable work to a 1.8 to get it to compare to the stock spec, less so with the sr20,which is a more power freindly motor than the 1.8.There are a ton of variables here, and most of them involve price

Yes, cupholders, those things are worthless! I use it for my work ID, cell phone, small stuff like that, etc.
I also hate the fact that I am a second generation owner of the car. Wish I could have owned it from the start, but bought it with 51k miles on it for $10g's, not bad, have had it for 1.5 years now and lovin' it. Can't wait till it's paid off in 2 more years. Will probably get another car then, but will keep the spec. Nothing's gone wrong with it as of yet. I do hear a noise almost everytime I release the clutch, and according to the service manual that is a worn/damaged release bearing in the clutch. So I need to go have that taken care of one of these days.
I do also hate the space issue, but hey, I'm the one driving, so my friends in the back are the ones complaining, lol.
