I bought a new '04 Spec V and installed a Nismo CAI around 18k miles. I have about 75k now and just installed a Nismo header and exhaust.
The throttle response improved with just the CAI, and now with the header and exhaust it's much better, plus it sounds awesome!
Although adding bolt ons increases power, do I have to manually adjust the air/fuel mix to get the most out of an intake and exhaust?
If so what would be the best method? I don't have any experience with engine tuning and I really don't need a complicated unit to make infinite adjustments.
I know someone who reprogrammed their 07 Mustang GT with a chip flasher and it was waaay faster.
Also, does anyone know if grounding kits actually work?
Thanks!

you have 2 options, start reading and learn, or pay someone to do it.

Your ECU will make the necessary corrections, you don't have to do anything. You have an 04 so you have the "smarter" ECU. Theoretically you could fine tune the ECU with a SAFC and a wideband datalogger but it won't be worth the few hundred dollars you are going to spend on eqiupment for the ~5 hp you might get or you might not get out of the tune.
If you are itching to drop more cheese on your whip get CAMS and cut the BS chain. Those should give you more power for the same amount of money you are going to spend on tuning equipment.

If you have an SAFC already you could retune after installing cams. But I wouldn't say it's a MUST. In my personal opinion I would not buy an SAFC and a wideband datalogger for N/A bolt-on modifications. It's just not worth it.

Thanks guys for the tips.
I'm gonna hold off on things for now, can't spend it all....
Regarding the grounding kits, I just hear that they stabilize the voltage between all of the sensors and electronics to make them run smoother. To me it sounds like a grounding kit wouldn't do much but I was interested in other people's opinions.

Grounding kits are a waste of money. Don't bother with them.

grounding kits do alot. I have an issue of Dsport where they do tests and a good grounding kit showed hp gains of 2-5hp depending on the kit......

That's a magazine article, which they were probably paid by the manufacturer to run in the first place. Take those kind of articles with a grain of salt. Grounding kits don't do much, if anything at all.

Grounding wires WILL help grounding, however, your car is grounding in many places, so the effect are very minimal. The most you will notice is your dash lights/headlights/ windows will operate smoother.
SAFC can help you tune and know more about what your car is doing on the inside, maybe a few extra ponies but you will know when your car is knocking and and the a/f ect ect
My personal opinion with you only having i/h/e is to remove the balance shafts. It will give you more hp than your i/h/e combined, PLUS it with lengthen the lifespan of your car. Its only $100. I dont think you necesarily need the SAFC yet because you havent done anything to change anything dramatically. Oh and just outta curiousity, have you loctited your butteryflies?
if you have any questions just pm me

Hes right about the BSR I have I/H/E and I LOCTITED the BUTTERFLIES and I installed an SAFC II but you also need a wideband to tune with the SAFC II but the BSR is a really awesome mod for your car and you can add an extra quart of oil if you get the JWT kit its 80+shipping and its my next mod to come Good Luck hope all goes well
