Exhaust Cam Sprocket Install Review

OK peeps just a review of WRP sprocket. I had this thing for about 6 months and finally had time to install. First of all I want to thank Nightrider45 for sending me the pic in which I used for reference.
I also took picks of my own so other people can reference if needed. I had no problems what so ever and the sprocket is set to -4 as you can see on the pic. The car does feel stronger but it could be that the exhaust got louder. This kind of reminds me of when I got the ECU recall and They reflashed it. Everyone swore the car got faster. This is the same feeling. I am going to dyno sometime in the future and maybe a slight tune up top. I had my spec dyno at 180 whp twice and once at 182 whp. Since then I raised the rev limiter to 6800 rpms and installed the sprocket. The car does feel quicker and peppier < (is that a word?) anyways. But that’s the butt dyno for you. The only concern when installing the sprocket is to have the timing chain at TDC just follow the fsm instructions and all should be fine. And triple check your work. Overall it seems to be a decent part. Like the IMS He He!

I want to do mine,I don't think their is anyone close by though.
I should check with some of the other people in this area.

Take your time and find someone that knows what they are doing. Its not that difficult just remeber the TDC and use the FSM provided by MSV and you will be fine. Its not as noticeable as Cams or header but every little bit helps.

The BIGGEST thing is to NOT drop the fucking tensioner down the motor.  If you do, you'll have a REALLY bad day.

+10. I didn't do it when I was pulling the head for the rod swap, but I did to it this time. thankfully I had to take off the side cover anyway, and the engine was on a bench instead of a couple engine mounts. haha

Yeah, while it's in the car, it's a fucking disaster.

Re: Exhaust Cam Sprocket Install Review

Sorry guys, I mean I want to get my car dyno'd.
My sprocket was installed already.
We used a Very small drill bit to hold the tensioner in place.
I did knock it out (drill bit) while scraping the old gasket material off.
I had someone experienced helping me.
I want to get some cams next.

Oh ok. Cams and a tune will help out alot and you might want to do the bsr if possible. Maybe you can try the the new BC cams.

Yeah, while it's in the car, it's a fucking disaster.

From what I've seen, if you get a pin that will fit in the little hole, you don't have to remove the tensioner. Maybe you do. I'm not sure. Not dropping the tensioner is definately something to pay the fuck attention to. get some small string and tie it to a hose or something, and to the tensioner, just so you know you don't drop it. It's spring-loaded, so if you don't lock it, it can pop loose and shoot the metal cylander down into the timing cover. no fun at all.

Yeah, that little plunger is what I was talking about, it can pop out on you and go down the motor.  It happened on my spare motor when i was pulling the stock cams and sprockets out.

Re: Exhaust Cam Sprocket Install Review

Cant wait to c the real numbers, after buying the ims i was very hesitant on buying another wrp product but my friend pulled on me hard on the hwy with it and I had more bolt ons Hurry up and dyno! Lol I've had the sprocket installed for a few monthes and it feels like it lost torque but 5000 to redline feels more aggressive

Butt dyno FTL.....and power output varies from car to car....

Yes every car is different but if he gains every1 should whether it's more or less than his..I just want to make sure this mod adds hp, not subtract lol.. Though in theory it should gain like a mild aftermarket camshafts install

That depends if he has baselines to compare to w/o the sprocket, and if he's using the same dyno facility.

That happened to me... It sucked. I was lucky that I had JWT BSR installed, so the tensioner and its guts fell all the way down to the lower oil pan. I had to drain the oil and take off the oil pan to get to it, but it wasn't too bad.

I have been using the same facility and I have a tuned pull of 181.5. prior to raised limiter and wrp sprocket. Hopefully I can get at least 4 hp but we will see. Seems like the exhaust just got louder.
