Turbo CVT SE-R

Holly shit dudes, that's all I gotta say; I was driving back home last night and I stop at a red-light, then this 07-08 SE-R, non-spec, stopped next to me. and Revved a lil, so I revved back. On green we punched it and I hear the snail spool up and I thought "FUCK!!!!!!!!!" the guy litteraly obliterated me, he put like 4 wal-marts by the time I was going 80, when I was going 100, I could barely see him. Then we stop at a red light and I asked him, WTF was that in there, and he said 16 PSI and a CVT. He had NM plates, so I'm hoping he's living near el paso so I can steal (copy) his technology.

Super Walmarts

I know for a fact, due to the distance he pulled on me on that "race" he's making low 13 or mid 12's I shit you not, that was some scarry stuff. His launch was awesome, O.O I'm just shocked.

Re: Turbo CVT SE-R

Something doesnt sound right. This guy must have EXTENSIVE transmission mods. I was talking to a friend, nissan tech, and he said that the belts in the CVT cannot hold much more power then stock. Im just passing on what he said, but would be really cool if it is true.

Re: Turbo CVT SE-R

^ Thats why im not disagreeing with him at all. Im just saying what ive been told. But 16psi requires engine work, tranny work......  Not many transmissions, especially CVT's can take 16psi. Thats gotta be what, 400whp?

Re: Turbo CVT SE-R

I think Jeff was around 300 on like 8 or 10 psi. Not sure though...

Re: Turbo CVT SE-R

^ 8 Psi, some goodies and good tuning I think makes just a tick over 300. I could be wrong.

Re: Turbo CVT SE-R

I love CVT.

Get this guy to join, I'm curious to see this. I was under the impression (like many on here) that CVT wouldn't like all that extra power.

Something doesnt sound right. This guy must have EXTENSIVE transmission mods. I was talking to a friend, nissan tech, and he said that the belts in the CVT cannot hold much more power then stock. Im just passing on what he said, but would be really cool if it is true.

It is true I researched CVT transmissions an boost and forget it the transmissions just candle handle power.  They are so delicate, no rebuild kits either just replace the whole thing.

the CVT holds the altima SE-R power and the maxima power... its obviously capable.  dont be such nay-sayers

Re: Turbo CVT SE-R

Jeff I am not just being a nay-sayer  I did a lot of reading and the CVT transmission are not known for taking extra power above stock.  Just saying if you turbo your car with cvt transmission don't except to be able to rebuild because you can't  those are expensive as hell to replace as well.

Re: Turbo CVT SE-R

well the maxima has 290 so we know that it can hold atleast 300... it might not be able to take 16psi but it could def take 6-8.
