MSII and stock ECU compatability

I voltage spiked my stock ECU, and lost the signal sent to the 2nd and 3rd coilpacks... so, now I'm running on  cylinders...

I want to run a megasquirt II system,

Could I run the stock ECU to control the auxillary systems, and guages, but run all ignition, fuel, etc from the MSII?

I'm having trouble getting ahold of the ECU that I want, plus, reflash and dealing with NATS... So, I'm wondering if this setup would work...
thanks.

Re: MSII and stock ECU compatability

hed have to get it done pretty quickly to beat inspected to second MS running timing.  but it would cost alot more than getting a new ecu and theres still the fact that nobody actually has a damn spark map for this car  hiedis got an srt4 map that works good but if your not a pretty good tuner i would recommend starting with a spark map

Re: MSII and stock ECU compatability

actually,

ECU 400-800
reflash for my car, and NATS reflash
and retuning

Plus I want a stand alone anywaz...

Question, pimpsmurf, you said if I'm not planning on boosting.... I've got a fully built engine, and I'm definatey planning on boosting, thats why I was looking into the MSII, would you still recommend the MSI?

Re: MSII and stock ECU compatability

ecu reflash, nats reflash... what ?  I bought a brand new ecu from nissan for $400 got it installed for $80 and i have nats and whatnot.  and what about ecu retuning?

BUT... if you want a standalone anyways then yea get an MS from gurov.  just make sure you read alot about spark tuning becuz shit can go wrong QUICK

Re: MSII and stock ECU compatability

there's a few more differences in the ms2 code, one being that you can tune MAP+TPS blend for accel enrichments, it's a lot tougher to tune them, but they respond slightly better, again, more of a pain to tune.

inspected's ecu is wired to run ignition just like all the other boxes that i make, but he's not goign to run ignition quite yet.

Re: MSII and stock ECU compatability

oh, keep in mind, an external trigger wheel is absolute necessity for ignition control on the spec
