Just curious if a 07+ se-r non spec V can take premium gas and what would be the advantages and/or disadvantages of it?

Yes you can. Some people see better performance, but at the cost of more money.

If it doesn't say needs premium gas inside that gas door I wouldn't use it. Just cause you won't see any benefits since the car isn't tuned for a high octane. Now if you could get the car tuned for 93 or 91 as it is around here you would see some performance.

on my gas door, it says PREMIUM REQUIRED. on my road trip home from NC, i ran REGULAR for 2 1/2 tanks, roughly 700 miles or more. The car ran fine, no knock reading or nuthin. Now I am even boosted and when at 10psi, it had a little knock, like 15-20, but nothing worth worrying about so even PREMIUM REQUIRED cars can run regular.

It doesn't matter what the gas door says...my gas door says the same shit (2003 Spec). READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL. In mine it says, under "FOR SPEC V" or something, to use gas with an octane rating of at least 87, but that at least 91 is recommended for best performance. So the sticker on the gas door isn't even true.
Ask yourself: does the Altima 2.5 require premium gas?

Mine consistently achieves 2-3 mpg less on 91 or 93.

Im all stock (if that make any difference). I get around 26 mpg with 91.

I know, it's really weird...but honestly it's such a small difference that I'm willing to just call it margin of error and say, I get about the same mileage.

hgiher octane burns faster... u get less gas mileage. dude who said he gets better mileage, ur calculations are off

maybe gas companies pay the car companies to put that "premium required" thing on the car. that way they get more profit off of consumers!

might be figment of my imagination but my 02 se-r seems to run like shit with anything but 93. I always put it in now, and if it saves a knock and is an all around better additive then why not pay a little extra?

i use 91 octane i get better mileage and my car is more responsive too

you're paying an additional 2.30 for a full fill. if you feel like its doing something good for the car, then great it just a few bucks.

Also ask yourself: is our compression ratio higher to produce more power which would then suggest premium fuel for the engine not to ping? I believe the answer is yes, hence your manuel saying us AT LEAST 87 but a premium of 91 is recommended.
