Stock Fuel Injectors and Misfiring Problem

Hey anyone know of anyone selling their stock injectors or where I could pick some up?

I think I have been having a problem with my engine leaning out too much in my third cylinder.

For awhile I would experience my car misfiring when I first start it up when the engine was cool.  If I changed the spark plugs it would be fine for a couple months and be fine again.  Turns out the missing was being caused by my spark plug insulation cracking in cylinder 3.  One of the times my car started misfiring so much the check engine light went on with a error code for cylinder 3 misfire. so when i pulled the plugs, i discovered that the insulation had cracked on the spark plug from cylinder 3 and changed it once again.  Its been a few months and my car is once again... misfiring at start up.

I think the insulation cracking is being caused by that particular cylinder leaning out too much, probably because of a bad injector, thus why im looking for one.

any help on where to get some, or feedback on my problem would be appreciated.

Re: Stock Fuel Injectors and Misfiring Problem

have you tried doing an injector flush? not injector cleaner (ie, fuel additive) but an actuall flush? nissan has some stuff pretty cheap, i think around $10-15(?) last time i checked. maybe the injector is just dirty.

Re: Stock Fuel Injectors and Misfiring Problem

For awhile I would experience my car misfiring when I first start it up when the engine was cool.

How is your coolant level doing?  Drinking any?  Next time you pull the plug, shine a light down the hole and see if you have liquid in there shining the light back.  If so, then  look into replacing your BHG.

Also, I too had an injector go bad on me (shortly before the BHG).  When I pulled the rail, #3 was brown and cruddy, while the others were just 'lightly toasted'.  It was obvious that injector was bad.  Maybe you can pull the rail and check before spending any $$$.  Good luck man.

Yah, it's like a $100 and made a big difference for me at the time.  It went to crap in ~2 weeks after doing the serve, so I pulled the fuel rail and found #3 looking like crap.

Re: Stock Fuel Injectors and Misfiring Problem

if you do pull your rail, watch your orings. don't lose them and don't rip them, or they will leak.

The injectors and O-rings are sandwiched pretty well into the fuel rail.  I had to pull quite hard to remove the injectors.

I will put in the pointer of lubing the o-rings with a bit of vaslene upon re-install.  This helps them pop back in smoother and prevents tearing, especially on high mile o-rings.  I bought a set of new ones in case I fubar'd one.

Re: Stock Fuel Injectors and Misfiring Problem

thanks for the input! if i end up pulling the injectors i'll make sure to watch for that.

Something just occurred to me... If my cylinder was leaning out so much it would crack my spark plug insulation, wouldn't I burn the valves and piston before the insulation cracked?
