I just advanced my timing today and now i'm getting the p0011 (Intake Valve Timing Control ) code. but i dont get it, Its not over advanced to trigger the Check engine light, y is it on? And if anyone has done this, did your light come on? This is what i read about it. http://www.engine-light-help.com/P0011- … light.html

There was someone else on here that got the same thing. I advanced my timing (for some reason base was 14* not 15* so I went to 16* +1). The other guy went from 14* (same thing weird stock timing) to 17, so +2 from the normal 15* base. I believe he had an 02 and he remedied the situation by doing the knock sensor relocation but that could be something completely unrelated. I guess I'm just thinking outloud. I believe donspecv told me that the KS and the timing are unrelated but I dont know.

nah he's right, there not related cuz i also have the knock sensor relocated.
the dame specv ecu is soo smart.

That's weird, because you're talking about ignition timing, not cam timing. They are 2 totally separate things. Did you clear it and see if it came back on?

yea i cleared the code and it came back like 1hr later after driving back from the place.

Possible causes:
1. Crankshaft position sensor (POS)
2. Camshaft position sensor (PHASE)
3. Accumulation of debris to the signal pick-up portion of the camshaft

yea i understand that but it all happend today, when i did the change. and theses are the possabilities for this code.
Incorrect camshaft timing
VCT solenoid valve stuck open or continuous oil flow to piston chamber
Camshaft advance mechanism binding, or faulty VCT unit
Reasons of that: The comprehensive component monitor, referred to as the CCM, monitors the Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) position for over-advanced cam timing. If the cam timing exceeds a maximum calibrated limit or is stuck in an advanced position, the check engine light will come on and set this trouble code.

But that shouldn't have anything to do with ignition timing. This is weird.

Yea i know, it is weird. it says cam timing but then again the ignition timing was advance, is that considered the same but worded differently?

No, they are two separate things altogether.

i may have found a solution. The p0011 code and p0300 code comes on at the same time. the light kept on coming onf after 30mins of driving so what i did, was add positive corrections on the safc2 from 1k - 3k. And what happend? the light came on less then 5mins. So i was like hummm, if it's throwing the code then the spark is not burning all the gas, so what i did was added negative corrections from 1k-3k and now the light doesnt come on. So now when it idles the afr is between 15.5 - 17.0. Before at stock it idle between 14.0- 15.0. So from my understanding i had to make it more leaner throught those rpms.

I spoke to my boy that did the change on my car and it was at 14 degrees, retarted by 1 degree. wtf? isnt stock at 15? Y are so many specv's have there settings at 14 degrees ??? well anyways now it's at 16 degrees and it's running fine after wut i did to it earlier today.
