injen CAI sound

I have no idea how to describe what I want to ask, so I'll do my best.

Around 2500-3100 rpm, when giving it a normal (daily driving) amount of throttle, the intake seems to make this whistle/screeching sound. I can hear it when my windows are down, but not up.
My girlfriend said from the outside, it doesn't sound bad, it just sounds like a hiss, and that it's sucking in a lot of air.

I tried videotaping it, but you can't hear it on the video.

I'm not necessarily worried about it, as much as I was wondering if this is just the sound it makes, or if its just mine. Let me know, Thanks.

Re: injen CAI sound

normal, that's what mine does too and it can do it past those RPMs as well depending on how hard you're pressing the throttle.  Intakes tend to do this sometimes and I personally love that sound i get good comments on it all the time.  i wouldn't so much describe any kind of "screeching" sound out of mine, but only a hiss and whistle, a histle.

Re: injen CAI sound

That's definitely a better word than screech. I guess mine "histles" too.

Re: injen CAI sound

my sister's civic does this at idle, she has a K&N typhoon intake. nothing to worry about, i guess; she's had it like that for almost 2 years without any problems.

Re: injen CAI sound

Just the intake doing it's job, I love the sound and people always notice it, it's more audible depending on your throttle percentage moreso than rpm, just lower rpm is quiter so you can hear it easier.

Re: injen CAI sound

It's normal, mine does that too. I guess it's just the filter sucking the air. Sounds nice, sounds like you have a BOV.

Re: injen CAI sound

mine makes the same sound when I stomp on it...it's just the sound of the filter sucking air in. It almost sounds like a turbo at times to me lol I love it....
