i think that a short shifter would be annoying for fifth gear. What would you guys think if we could get a short shifter that was tilted towards the driver a lil more? Is this possible to do?

How would it be annoying for 5th gear?

dude, a short shifter shortens the throw...so it wouldn't get worse. it should be closer to you

i dont... i think fifth is just too far and third is borderline depending on how im sitting. If im sitting ready to race then its fine but if im leaning to one side all comfy i find it uncomfortably long.

You shouldn't lean while you drive...

Real racers sit straigt up now stfu... if you are leaning back you only look cool to g-boy wannabe's (and I don't mean G-rov). Here is a little lesson for u that will go a long way if you actually want to be a hi-performance driver:
Tighten your shoelaces for jebus' sake...
1) Sit in your car... maybe you should write this down so you can sit in your car and try it.
2) Put your feet on the pedals... adjust the bottom (part where your ass goes) so that you can press the brake pedal ALL THE WAY DOWN easily using the ball of your foot. You should also be able to pivot to the gas pedal WITH YOU HEEL PLANTED FIRMLY ON THE MAT!
3) Place you wrists at 10 and 2 on the steering wheel and adjust your seat back so that IT TOUCHES YOUR SHOULDERS!!!
4) Make sure that when you are gripping the steering wheel at 9 and 3 (dont' break your wrists - let the tight hand roll) you can make a full armlock turn (your elbows should touch as you maximize your turn) that your hands don't hit your knees... IF THEY DO THEN RAISE YOUR STEERING WHEEL A TINY BIT AT A TIME AND RETRY.
5) Take this to heart and learn to be a driver... not a damn gangsta'! In a proper seating position I guarantee you will have no problems shifting a spec V. They were designed and set up for drivers... not gangstaz.
6 is like a bonus tip... If you ever run into somebody's car because you weren't sitting properly/controlling your vehicle... Don't say I didn't warn you... oh and I hope they beat the bloody-piss out of you like in Family guy... since you're from Quahoag.

Seriously. I'm not laying down when i drive, but i dont exactly need to be "high performance driving" on my way to work. There is nothing wrong with sitting comfortably. By the way, "real racers" don't call themselves "hi-performance drivers"
You drive a sentra. It's not a "hi-performance" car.
get over yourself.

there is a HUGE difference between "high performance" driving and the "safe" way to drive.

I don't believe he was flaming you. He was merely making a point and educating everyone on a proper driving position.
With that said, if you do lean while you drive, you're an idiot. That's not a flaming response. It's my honest opinion. You don't have to drive like you're primed to race. However, you should drive in a position that will let you competently manage the vehicle. You're in a three thousand pound projectile. If you can't manage it, you may kill yourself or others. In a panic situation, will your driving posture allow you to accurately correct the vehicle and avoid an accident? You can't if you're leaning gangsta style with one hand on the wheel and the other on your nuts. It's not about prime comfort. You're not tucked into your bed. Again, you're in a three thousand pound accident waiting to happen. If you think that you can manage your vehicle from any posture, you're an idiot. There is always a proper and better way to handle the vehicle. Base on everything you've stated so far, you are clueless about it. If you want to relax in your vehicle while going 80+ mph, just be sure to kill only yourself.
As for High Performance Driving, you don't need to drive a High Performance vehicle to drive with proper posture. There are professionals who race "K-Cars" with helmets and gloves. I guess they need to get over themselves too? It doesn't matter the speed you're going or how beast your car is. There is a proper way to manage it. A simple driving school will tell you that much. They will teach you how to adjust your seat back, head restraint, steering wheel position, and so forth. They will teach you the proper way to hold the steering wheel and tell you how far or close you should be to the wheel in regards to your seating position. What you'll find is that the "everyday driving" posture is scarily similar to the "high performance" driving posture.
Lastly, I have yet to hear anyone else on this board complain about not being able to comfortable managae 5th gear. That just goes to show that you're doing something wrong.

I'm not the one who leans while i drive. I just said I sit comfortably. There have been several times where I have had to make a quick decision to avoid someone hitting me, and I have done it just fine in the position I sit in.
I understand there are professionals who drive, and there is a proper way to sitting and handling the vehicle. When I'm not shifting, both my hands are on the wheel. Not only is it comfortable this way, but I also understand that with both hands on the wheel I have full control. Where as if you have one hand on the wheel, and need to make a quick decision and your hand slips, youre fucked.
As for the fifth gear thing, I understand what he is talking about, as the shifter is somewhat tilted. It doesn't bother me because I have long arms.
To me, it would've been less annoying if he just explained the proper way to sit/handle the car, instead of being all "real racers do this, high performance driving that"

The shifter is fine, if it isn't you're sitting improperly.
If you're not sitting properly, please do, not only do you look like a tool when I can see your face through your REAR DRIVERS window, but I can guarentee you can't see shit anyway. Please sit up, it's more comfortable using the support from the seats than some weird ass gangster lean position.
Short shifter ftw, lets get to it TMW
