Wouldn't it be cool if...
the middle guage (Gas/Temp/Mileage/Gear) that is shared by both SE-R and Spec V, displayed the Gear you are in with your Spec V.
It already has the function (For the CVT) because if you take a good look at it, you can see the slight faint of the Gear display.
I thought i'd start a thread that would spark ideas and possibilities for our SpecV. Tanoshimimasho! Let's have fun!

no, its a stich shift. if u look at that for ur gear, u should be shot

it displays the gear on the auto when u use the paddle shifters

I personally think that it would be annoying, but there should be SOMETHING there it looks kind of bare to me.

Only reason for a gear indicator would be if it was a paddle shifted tranny or something like that. With a manual tranny, you always know what gear you're in by the position.

That's exactly what i'm saying.. to the latter. I know it's for the paddle shift but it's there right? It's just taking up space and has nothing to do with our Spec V. Why not be able to use it.

i think a shift light indicator would be good because these clutches suck ass.

What does a clutch have to do with a shift light? Just curious...

damn heidi always riding my ass when i post. well if i had a shift light that comes on during the desired rpm range then i wouldn't have to worry about my car jerking so damn much when I don't let out the clutch at 3,123.25 rpms.

Ermmm... WTF?

i was being sarcastic. i don't know about everyone else's clutch with the b16s, but mine is super sensitive and if you don't shift between 3 and 3 1/2 thousand rpms the car jerks like you are popping the clutch. I hate it.

Mine is free of that.

honestly if u need to know the gear by a display and ur driving a stick...
brace for impact

I think the point is being missed. There is something that exists in our cars that is not being used. It's a big blank spot in our dash. If it is there anyways, why not have it work. It's like the G-meter, it's there and it works. Choose to look or not look at it, up to you, but it's there because Nissan put it there to function. Why not have that gear display function as well?

Thats why you give it just a bit of throttle to match the RPMS for the next gear and make a smooth shift.

maybe you need to let the clutch out slower dude?
cool idea about the gauge, though. maybe a shift light in the silhouette of "Spec V"?

I was working on one for the b15 a while back but it kinda went to shit cuz I couldnt get any parts for it while I was in Korea. Well, I could have, but I just didnt know where to get them. I guess I could dig up all the info on it and finish it up.

I know what you mean buit it's only shifting from 1st to second, just ease the clutch a little more if you're not gonna be shifting at it's "G-SPOT".

i wouldn't mind that bare spot on the gauge to actually digitally display the voltage.

You're not shifting right? I only had that problem when I was a newb to stick..

Agreed. I've only been driving for like 5 months and have no problem getting it shift smoothly. Just ease the clutch out a little more slowly and it should be fine. When I first started driving I tried to drive the thing like a race car and it did exactly like you said, jerked like a motherf***er. I also agree with you that it shouldn't be that way though. I drove a Mazda RX-8 at a Skip-Barber race school and was able to let the clutch out extremely quickly with almost no jerking at all.

I think it's a GREAT idea. I would love for it to display what gear I'm in. I would be usefull at night.

So you are unable to tell what gear you're in by your current speed + RPMs?
