Cutting the fuel line...

So I would like to know what method everyone uses to cut the fuel line under the hood. It's like a weird plastic/synthetic line and I'm not sure what to use to cut it. Anyone got ideas?

Re: Cutting the fuel line...

this could be a dumb question, but why would anyone cut a fuel line?

Re: Cutting the fuel line...

Haha I was waiting for that. I have to cut it to put in a fuel pressure sender

yeah kinda like copper pipe cutter. either that, or standard shears (since it's a malleable material).

Re: Cutting the fuel line...

I used scissors. The plastic inside is a bitch tho. I just replaced my line with 5/16(ithink thats the size) transmission fluid line when I did my nitrous. Much easier to work with and does not leak.

I was actually thinking about doing that since I dont want leaks. Do i just have to yank the stock line off the fittings?

Re: Cutting the fuel line...

somethin like that. if you have a nice set of knives, grab one and slice it length wise till you get to the plastic. once you have the plastic part cut you can just rip the plastic. or grab a set of pliers if you have big fingers and yank on it. make sure you get clamps to hold it down to the fittings. its not a tight enough fit to hold the pressure. but with those clamps it works fine.

i hope this makes sense. i just got out of the shower and still half asleep.

btw, what are you cutting it for?

Re: Cutting the fuel line...

I completely removed mine, went to Autozone bought the correct size and length of rubber fuel line, hose clamps, then T'd it for my nitrous. never leaked, cost about 5 bucks.
They also sell "fuel line removal" tools, come with about 5 or 6 diff. sizes for about 5 bucks as well, makes getting the line off alot easier.

Re: Cutting the fuel line...

use the fuel line removal tool and replace the stock one with a high pressure rubber hose.  save the oem fuel hose for later, sell it or if use it again if you ever go back to stock.  i still need an oem line from when i took my nitrous kit off but im too lazy to get one.

Re: Cutting the fuel line...

Well I just ended up cutting the hose and plastic lengthwise and got it off. I replaced it with some high pressure 5/16" rubber hose with clamps. Works like a champ and no leaks! smiley-tup
