So I was bored tonight. Decided to use Seafoam on my roommates BMW 840. I had never done it before, so I wasn't absolutely sure how much/little to dump in. His car has 115,000 miles on it, so I figured it was all gunky. Put a little less than 1/3 the can in the vacuum hose then we let it sit and fired it up. Minor smoke, so I figured I didn't add enough for the size of the engine (4.0l V8). I go home and think, hell I should use it on my car. I only have 21,xxx miles so I wasn't expecting much. Took off the vacuum hose, sucked up a little more than 1/3 of the can and let it sit. Fired it up after a 5 min and HOLY SHIT epic smoke. Hahahha, it was insane how much that think smoked. Took ~5 min of driving for it to subside to a non crazy level.
So basically, even if you don't have a gazillion miles on your engine, use it anyway. It's great. We're going to use more on his 840 tomorrow, just to make sure all 8 cylinders get soaked.

seafoam is a deep engine cleaner. Ive used it on all my past cars.
The vacuume line you can use is the one off the brake booster.
You can put 1/3 of the can into oil, 1/3 into the fuel tank, and 1/3 into the vacuume line.
If you are doing the vacuume line, you use 1/3 of a can. remove one side of the line, closest to the brake booster. while thew car is on, pour seafoam into hose. The vacuume will pull it into the hose.
You car may stall, thats normal, its ok. just restart it. After 1/3 of can is in there, turn car off, and wait a few mins. This allows it to soak into the head. Reconnect vacuume hose if you havent already.
Turn car on, and rev to 2000 rpms. Watch the smoke show in your mirror. BTW, please find a park to do this, as you can piss off your neighbors with this. As smoke subsides, go for a drive. Any smoke will disapear after several miles of highway driving. Now enjoy your cleaned car.

How do the 02 sensors like this treatment?

Thats good oil. I wouldn't think it would smoke that much with just 21k on it.

it's not so much for the 02 sensors as it is for actually cleaning out the internals and whatnot inside the motor. It doesn't hurt the sensors at all though. at least not if oyu only do it occasionally like once a year at most.

Cool. I would have thought that all that crap would coat them or something. Nice.

I am, but that wasn't me. I do not slide out of bed until 9 at the earliest. I have a crappy Arizona Statue University sticker on my back window. I deliver pizza for Dominos, so I'm out driving a lot. I'll keep an eye out.
