transmission fluid change - in progress

So my BG Sycroshift II came in today, and I went out to actually do it, and felt I should post here before doing so.

I wanted to confirm 3 things.

1. http://img71.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0223tw6.jpg (fill hole?)

2. http://img67.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0225mm7.jpg (drain hole?)

3. 3 quarts is enough for an 07, right?

(sorry for the shitty images, I was using a camera phone, and trying to do it while being under the car)

Re: transmission fluid change - in progress

Eh not sure on the 07' But 02-06 uses 2 3/8ths.  Look at your cars manual.  It will have fluid specifications in there.  It will tell you how much the trans. holds.

Re: transmission fluid change - in progress

I was just gonna fill it until it starts oozing out. And in the manual, it doesnt list the capacities, just what type of oil to use.

so how much did it take and did u have to do any thing after u changed it?

The best car safety device is a rear-view mirror with a cop in it.

Re: transmission fluid change - in progress

I will let you know tomorrow morning, that is when I am going to do it. Didn't get a chance the last couple days, as I had to work 12 hour shifts at work.

Re: transmission fluid change - in progress

Wow...that was a pain in the ass. The fill and drain holes were put on so tight it took me forever to get them off. Next time, I'll go to speedee and pay $30 to have it changed, in my opinion, its not worth it to do it yourself (unless you have an impact wrench, which i dont.)

On the other note, i STRONGLY suggest the BG Syncoshift II. Both the clutch and the gears feel so smooth now. Definitely a cheap mod for those not looking to spend too much.

Re: transmission fluid change - in progress

is there a specific weight you used?  and where did you get the stuff?  i found some royal purple gear oil but wasn't sure what weight to use.

Re: transmission fluid change - in progress

I ordered it from here: https://secure.buschurracing.com/catalo … cts_id=825

You can't specify the weight on the site, they sent me 75w-80 gl-4.

It feels really smooth going from gears 1-6. But after i put the clutch in, and go to put it in reverse, it feels like it resists, and u have to shove it in. It doesn't grind or anything, but it doesn't just pop in anymore. If i do that, and leave the clutch down, it will smoothly go into reverse until i re let the clutch out. I don't know why this is, but since there is no grinding, i assume that there is no problem. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Re: transmission fluid change - in progress

Has this happened to anyone who has changed the fluid before?
Not really worried about it like i said, but anyone have an idea of why it does that, or is there something wrong?

Reverse gears are straight cut gears. Therefor They are harder to engage than the regular 1-6 gears. I wouldnt worry about a thing. Your good to go smiley-wink

Re: transmission fluid change - in progress

but honestly why would you expect much out of something like this?  it's just an oil when it comes down to it?  I'm gonna be doing this soon.  I already flatfoot shift as it is when racing ppl and when i;m at the track, I don't expect a difference in feeling but i would hope overall it's worth it overall.

so why are you spending 50 bux if you dont expect anything out of it? if it just oil why dont you get 2 quarts for 10 bux? you dont make sence

ive read alot of the threads around here and everyone said that they felt a big difference. not sure what kind of difference but nothing here..
