Re: filters

Installing a CAI/SRI will not void the warranty unless it directly causes damage. If installed correctly, the only way you could really cause harm with a CAI is if the filter is submerged and takes in water.

+1 and the dealer has to prove that the mod in quetions is the reason for the damage. So it's not like the can say you have a CAI on so that's why your clutch stopped working or your barkes failed or whatever.

Plus why is that the B15 guys can buy a nismo CAI and have nissan put it on without it voiding the warranty? If your that concerned about it then I would say take it to a certified tech and have them put it on that way ther is no question or concern. But it's really not as big of a deal as it may seem.

I've been to the dealer plenty of times with my intake and exhaust. They think its cool and want to look at it and stuff. Don't worry about voiding your warranty.

If you want, take out the silencer on your stock airbox. It improves it a little bit. It at least sounds cooler       lol

Re: filters

i took out the silencer on my stock air box before the CAI was available and i got a K&N air filter.
tghe filter i sused at the time was part number 33-2036 and was actually designed for use in a 300ZX but it fit perfectly fine
now they actually released a filter for our cars from K&N part number 33-2409
it sounded different and seemed to have a bit better response but i don't thinkit did anything for power.

Re: filters

I will be boosted as soon as api is done with my manifold and downpipe. Oh and when I was installing my stock airbox i left out the baffle that goes behind the headlight. I doubt it does anything but it sounds a little better. I guess it can flow a tad more air.

Re: filters

To my knowledge, there is no aftermarket airbox. If you're that worried about it, get the Weapon R. It's in your engine bay and there is no way any moisture could get into it.

Re: filters

Re: filters

You're going to be taking in warm air no matter what. The stock intake piping doesn't draw in that much of a difference in air temperature. The entrance to the stock intake is still in the engine bay. Granted, yes, it's closer to the front of the bay and might get a slightly cooler temperature... I don't think it's going to be that significant of a difference.

Like I said up way up there ^^, the filter on a cold air intake must be completely submerged to take in water. The filter itself is designed to repel bits of moisture. Just don't go driving through deep puddles     lol

There is a member who lives in Seattle I think and has the CAI and doesn't have an issu. Plus if your that worried about it then get the hydro shield for the filter. Plus have you even heard of some one hydro locking there car by just driving it around during a storm? I know I haven't people have to be pretty dumb in order to hydro lock the motor.
