Save some money, get any intake that is 3" piping and an AEM dryflow filter. Any of the name brand and some of the ebay ones will work.

My nismo intake fit fine, just had to bend the hole just a tad, nothing major.
The problem I did have was the foam bypass valve... after about a year it ripped apart and I had to replace that piece with a silicone coupler
I actually still use my upper part as part of my intercooler piping.

worth it...yes. Unless you find like an aem one for cheaper. its the same thing. Cut anything your outa luck with any cai for the spec. You have to cut a little bit of the existing hole a tiny bit bigger..no biggy. Do It!
Lifes to short to drive a shitty car, get in a Spec V-T

you dont have to cut anything. take a pair of vise grips to grab the metal and bend it down a bit to enlarge the hole.

mine fit just fine, you could either bend the metal or cut it, i took angled wire cutters and it worked like a charm

Filter seems to be good... I had it on my car from 20k to 40k miles, never cleaned it and it's still fine

Can anyone tell me what generation this one is??....it looks different than the others I have seen
and the bypass valve looks to be made of rubber instead of foam...

+1. Vise grips and 30 seconds of your time. I've done it on two specs.
The CAI is completely worth it, especially if it's one of your first mods. It will really awaken the spec, and you will love the sound from it.

heh, at least gurov says it doesn't look right.
I have a Gen 1, and mine doesn't look like that... and that picture doesn't look like a Gen 2, because gen 2's have an integrated maf housing.

you must have something like this:
the one pictured doesn't have close to the right bends or support brackets.

gennady gurov

the one in the earlier post has 3 pipes. nismo intakes/any intakes never had 3 tubes. it was always 2 tubes + maf adapter. the one pictured way above also doesn't have a 3" to 2.75" reducer for the throttle body from the final pipe.

So yeah its worth it
I installed it today and the only real pain in the ass was removing the silencer box.....other than that it went pretty smoothly....I noticed the throttle is more responsive now and it sounds really good right around 5K rpms
heres a picture
one of these days im gonna detail my engine bay

Yeah, you bought a GEN 1 ontake, the GEN 2 is just 2 pieces, and the MAF adpater is built into the intake, look at my show off, makes i loov VERY clean

Buy a replacement filter too I have had mine for about 2-3 years and it started to dry rot so I had to buy a new filter. I ended up getting a Fujita which sits a lot higher up on the pipe than the Nismo one. Also I don't know if I am the onlt person but the hold where it mounts to the fender just ripped open. So I had to ghetto rig it till I can get it fixed nice and good. And you don't have to cut but, the directions say that you need to grind out the hole.

+1 on the bypass filter being garbage. The plastic housing was cracked after ~1 year. $9 silicone coupler FTW.

I got the complete nismo set up.....
intake
headers
exhaust
suspension kit (springs & Shocks)
sway bars
strut tower bar
bushing kit
they are all awesome parts and worth the investments.......

What the major difference between the GenI and GenII CAI....and will the GenII fit the 02-03 spec v's?

Check to make sure the adapter flange that connects the bypass valve to the MAF is the correct size. I had a problem with mine and didn't know it. The dealership installed it for me and forced it onto the bypass valve and cracked it. A few years later without know it had fallen apart on the bottom side and was sucking in unfiltered air and fouled up my throttle body. I had to order a new bypass valve and had a buddy that works at a machine shop mill me a new adapter plate. It was made from a solid block of aircraft aluminum instead of a two pieces welded together. We also kicked around the idea of making it from Nylon. The stuff he has access to at work is used in high heat and extreme cold enviroments (also available in 5 colors). The best part is it only took 2 days to make the part and it's pattern is now sotred on a disk for future production.
