i just got my spec v, and im thinking i might want a cold air intake, or maybe a short ram intake. i know injen makes a cold air intake for the sentra ser spec v, but i dont know if anyone makes a short ram intake.
another thing is, if i really need it, how does it help your acceleration, and how tedius is the installation process. let me know how you guys like your intakes.

intake is really easy to install. AEM, Nismo and a few others make intakes as well.

^^^ He has an 07... so injen is the only company that makes one so far.

I got the injen CAI. I'm kinda slow at installations, but it was pretty easy, and took me a couple hours. It sounds amazing, and you can definitely feel the car pull more. I highly recommend this mod to anyone.

It's definitely doable by even novices. it may take some time if you're not familiar with cars in general. all you need are a couple screw drivers and a basic metric set of socket wrenches. It may seem a little overwhelming at first when looking at the directions but injen's directions are very straightforward and detailed. I sued a tad bit of Lucas oil treatment (the white bottle) to help lube up the couplings. it's not needed but helped a lot. honestly i had a good time puttin my intake on, I like working on cars thru the frustration and progress to see a finished product. It's prolly my fav possible mod for the new specs so far. get it.

Same here. I can be pretty impatient with most things, but no matter how annoying something is when working on my car, I love doing it.
This is the first car I have ever done any mods to, and i have very little experience working on cars. But if you follow the instructions, they are very easy, and you will have no problem doing it.

Here's a video of my car stock and then one of my car with the Injen cai to help you make your decision sound wise.
Stock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkamtA2RQp4
Injen CAI: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5zP7D4A … ature=user
It pulls a little bit more fervently in the mid-range / top-end side while the low end seems to hesitate a tiny bit. Install was easy, just make sure you assemble the bottom half down there and then connect it to the rest.
Weapon R makes a short ram, I know little to nothing about it.

whats the difference in performance, as in pros and cons to ram air and cold air?

Jason

You;ll get better mid range to top end power from the cai. and it's specifically designed for our cars. the short ram is just a short ram that was actually designed for the 2.0 sentras but it fits. You;'ll get better low end response and a lil less overall power. i suggest the CAI even if you live in a rainy climate.
here's a vid of mine as well, it's just a open hood no load video, and i have an exhaust on in this vid as well (less noticeable).

ive heard ram intakes can actually hurt your performance because they can take in hot air from the engine. how can i prevent that, and is there even a sure way tp prevent it"

there is no might here newbie...lol i keed i keed. This modification is one of the thigns that will give you car a little more growl and a little more bite. I would def say it's worth the money.
Short ram IMO isn't worth spending money on just to feed more hot air into you engine. Your not going to get the gains like the CAI and it probably cost about or as much, I don't know I haven't seen prices.

I don't think that you really need the CAI after all the car runs just find with out it, but what are you planning on doing with your car? are you going to do Drag racing and/or autx?
If you are going to just drive really fast all around the city then I would say please don't modify your car; I just read about a tuner race gone bad here in PHX where people were killed and we don't want that to happen to you or anyone else.
But if you are here like most to learn about the car and go to events then yes you need to get a CAI, however I wouldn't stop with a CAI you will also need an exhaust system to compliment the added air flow into the car. This with the CAI will help you achieve the maximum gains possible. If you want suggestions on exhust sytems I would be happy to share what I have learned.
As for my CAI I love it the sound the power and the overal performance is AWESOME, but some of that is due to my exhaust I have on. But from what I have heard from everyone that has shared info is they love theirs too. The acceleration increase was noticable and the install wan't difficult at all I took my bumper off and it made it so much easier to work on the lower part and for the adjustments that are needed.
If there is anymore info that you want let me know
and welcome to the site

well then you have come to the right place. What are you trying to accomplish with your car i.e. Drag and/or Autx?

just as a heads up the injen cai and weapon r still pull some warm air off the PCV valve from the hot air venting from your crank case. I did a bypass on mine, not really sure if i noticed a difference when driving but i definitely did after driving a while, popping the hood and checking how warm the intake was by the throttle body. Someone on here also got the short ram and left part of the stock airbox piping so that the colder air still gets fed directly to the filter. still wont be as effective as a cold air imo. but there's also a difference in price.
