Re: new sound system

When you say "system," what do you mean? Even if you have the receiver already, a "nice sound system" is going to put you back more than $200.  At $200, your best bet is to assemble the system at Wal-Mart using "Road Gear".

Re: new sound system

u get what u pay for. u risk getting fake or blown speakers on ebay. 200 will get you a nice set of infinity components for the front.. then theres the rear, then theres an amp!
i have seen sum badass prices on speakers, on www.edesignaudio.com
other than that, you kind of have to just go with what you want on car audio man. i wouldnt recommend buying stereo equipment of ebay though.

and 200 bucks isnt going to get you a nicer set of speakers than what comes stock anyway. not for a whole car anyway...

Re: new sound system

The only speakers anyone should be using are Polk and JBL. I think you can get 4 Polks for around 200. I hope you can install them yourself smiley-smile

Re: new sound system

Ok I will try to help you, I'm not a pro or and expert on car audio system, but I have a little experience installing audio. I did mine and my brother car.

All this is ebay which I would recommend for lower prices...
(just look for seller with high positive feedback)

Boss Audio AVA-1202 7-Band Preamp equalizer ($27.00) shipped
http://ak.buy.com/db_assets/prod_lrg_images/999/90130999.jpg
Pretty godd EQ for the price

LANZAR-VIBE416 4 CHANNEL 1000 WATT ($106.00) shipped  (sweet I got it for less, but mine was refurbished which is not really a big deal, so far pretty happy with it)
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm92/becundo/IMG_3863.jpg?t=1220309530
I have it there's nothing wrong with it just nice and clean sound

ALPINE SWS-1043D 10" ($80.00) shipped
http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/23059878/aview/231769_Picture_012_1_.jpg
I would recommend this Sub unless you wanna go for a bigger one, but thats gonna cost you more

Sub Enclosure Speaker Box ($45.00) shipped
http://i7.ebayimg.com/01/i/04/e0/01/21_10.JPG
just a box MDF Construction and sealed, will create good sound.

1000 WATT 8GA Car Amplifier Installation Amp Kit/Wire ($18.50) shipped
http://pics.lapkosoft.com/VM/XAK2500.jpg
not the best wires out there but who cares you trying to go cheap anyways...

All that will make a total of $256.00 shipped to your house,  and I guess that if you want to keep your stock radio your going to need one of those "LOC" (Line Output Converter) usually around $10.00 so that would make it $266.00. < not bad still cheap lol.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/hwy836/NRRM.jpg

That would be a lot better sound than stock obviously... then later you can upgrade your stock speaker, but I would recommend you to keep them until you blow them off.
If you set the internal crossover right on the amp, that would prevent blowing from happening in a good amount of listening into loud music time.

Also most of car audio shops out there will try to sell anything they have on stock to you no matter what you want. They can come to you offering a set of 40-50 dollars speaker and tell you that those are better than your stock ones, dont believe that bullshit. Search for info and read reviews from actual comsumers...

good luck hope you find your way out to a better sound system.

Re: new sound system

lets try something else... don't have to hear it to know it's good.. (disclaimer before my following post lets clarify that I am aware PG has been bought out. I have still bought one of the following subs and listened to it for over a year and it sounds excellent. On par with my previous JL12w3 as far as hard hitting goes)

http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sell/SSProfiles/33000211/Images/1/3b18_1_b.JPG
Found here, $38 shipped

http://i19.ebayimg.com/05/i/08/21/6f/28_1.JPG
10" Phoenix Gold Octane R 2 ohm DVC $75 shipped (wire the speaker in series for a 1ohm load on amplifier)

http://209.123.63.88/images/ebay/rab1450.jpg
MB Quart RAB1450 Class D Monoblock Will put out 450watts RMS at 1 ohm load. $90 shipped.

That = $203 shipped. High quality amp, and at the very least decent subwoofer. That box will be LOUD. Go sealed if you want clean sound. As for the rest of the system, find more money. get another amp and $10 tweeters lol. That's what I'm doing. The stock mids don't seem too bad with bass blockers on them.

EDIT: Lanzar = really lousy. Sides it is rated at 1000 watts, MAX and at 14.4v. That amp runs 4x35 watts RMS at 4 ohms. Also it has one 20amp fuse, math says 12.5v x 20a = 250 watts. Also, why on earth does the above picture have two channels bridged and two channels empty? That seems like a waste. BOSS EQ, much better off using the crossover on the amplifier and PROPERLY tuning the gain and bass boost on the amplifier. Alpine Subs are pretty decent, but they also have to match up to the amp. Don't want to get a the wiring wrong on DVC's or running two 4ohm SVC subs in series and bridging an amp which cannot handle the resulting load. You'll be out whatever your amp costs pretty quickly with the wrong ohm load. Also be careful when choosing amps if you're going to use a step down that the input signal the amp can recieve is relatively low. Apparently step downs (wiring an amp into the factory speaker wiring) can severely damage amps which are not capable of recieving signals that low either. The MB Quart can recieve inputs as low as .2v so it'll be fine.
