Buddies car, many problem yo!

My buddy has a 1.8s and whenever he drives over small bumps and gaps there are 2 clicking sounds that come from his front passenger side wheel, I guessed that his shocks are done on that side.  Also, his stick is so sloppy, you can't even tell that It's in gear, Is that how It's supposed to be?  And his clutch is incredibly soft, and while his car will still pull from a dead stop in 4th, It just feels weird, Is that supposed to be like that?  I also noticed that It's very much lacking in TQ when compared to the QR.

Re: Buddies car, many problem yo!

Its a rod type shift linkage, not a cable, so the sloppy stick is normal.  Im assuming you were exaggerating about not being able to tell if you were in gear, he might have a worn out bushing or shifter if you werent.
Lacking in torque?  Yea, about 700cc's worth.
As for a clicking noise, look at teh struts, the upper mounts, the swaybar endlinks, the ball joints, lca bushings, wheel bearing, maybe the axles.  If it were mine I would look at those in that order.
