Hey guys .. im sold on the injen CAI and being that it will be my first mod to the car i want to do the carbon fiber port thats under the driver side light.. I wanna go all out on that first and i didnt see any walkthroughs or dont really know how much of a PITA its going to be or the pro's and con's of it.. I live in florida and its like rainy most of the time and this is my everyday car so im not sure if that port would be ok since I take the expressway to work everyday and the rain and stuff... anyway any info would be appreciated..
Ohh and the CAI hasnt been ordered yet im selling my broke down 240sx (1 of 2) as soon as thats gone I might go intake, exhaust, and grill with the se-r spec v emblems..

Just curious, why race out a Spec when you have 2x 240's? That is one of my dream cars, and in convertible form, probably the only car I would trade my spec in for. That's just me though.
As for the CAI, what carbon fiber ports are you talking about? Rain and puddles are not a big deal. If you're worried about it, just go through them at low/no throttle. The water bypass included with my Nismo CAI is a POS anyway. I have since ditched it for a $9 intercooler coupler from vatozone.
You will need tin snips to open up the port that drops down into the fender wall, 1" rubber hose about 16" long to line the hold so your CAI doesn't smack metal, and don't forget to primer/rust proof paint any areas you do cut into. Nobody has done a walkthrough?

It's kind of a pain in the ass. I had to take the bumper off, and then use a hacksaw to cut out the hole. A utility knife will not work because the plastic they used to make the bumper is very thick (which is a good thing, its high quality, the bumper on the tC i used to have was shitty). After that you have to drill the holes to screw in the carbon fiber pieces, and you have to be very careful when screwing it in to not crack the carbon fiber. It looks pretty cool to have it on there, but i honestly felt 0 gains from it. Im sure on some level it helps, but nothing you can notice.
Oh, and if you are worried about water at all, just buy that injen hydroshield on ebay for like $20.

Here is the original thread where someone installed the duct:

Unless you are driving through puddles and actually submerging the filter, you're fine.
Buy my Injen CAI

That port tho looks badass the second I seen it on that yellow spec v i was like "ohh that shits gettin done to mine" haha.. the work is no problem me and a friend of mine can do the bumber stuff but is there a special port or do i need to get it custom made? Ive looked around and havent seen any or maybe im just lookin for the wrong thing..
Ok thing is with the 2 240's .. i bought the first one and on my way to work the engine died after a week and an exhaust/intake later...i mean it was going just fine no smoking no stutter nothing... next thing i know the back tires both lock and i got smoke comming from the engine bay... now its ok if i was on a road doin 30... but i was on the highway doing 70 when the back tires locked.. i guess the idiot who owned the car before me decided to take the valve cover off too many times and stripped 4 of the screws in the process and filled em with paper yes PAPER!!! guess it was my fault for never checking that but ehh.. the second 240 is in my garage now it runs couple mods I/H/E stage 3 clutch.. it had the LSD when i bought it .. thing swings its ass like crazy but theres no AC!!! i mean come on FL is like 99 degrees in winter... lol

the port is made specifically for the 350z. So just go on ebay and type in like 350z air duct.

I don't see how it would affect warranty.

Paper!?!?! WTF? No F*cking duct tape or what???
HAHA at the no A/C. I busted mine years ago when doing the header install and lost all my coolant. Here in Cali it gets into the 90's regularly and I personally like the heat. I'm a windows down kinda person. My chick on the other hand will NOT ride in my car if it gets to hot, so we take the mazda6 in that case.
Cool stories on the 240's. Keep 'em and fix 'em man. I'm a bit jealous myself!
