My car is going into nissan tomorrow to replace my serpatine belt again and my friend is gonna do the work, i'm gonna ask him to raise my idle and bump my timing to 17 degrees.... Problem is that this is the same guy that said u can't do it....
So can anyone post up the menu instructions on how to change those 2 things?
Also maybe i'll ask him to do a idle reset or i'll do it myself dont' care though

the timing and idle is all computer controlled, so the tech is going to have to hook the car up to a computer. I had my timing bumped to 17 and unfortunately it cost 60 bucks to do it. If ur replacing ur belt again, i suggest the goodyear gaterback, its a very good belt!!!

I thought the consult 2 does the idle raise?
The belt is going to be replaced for free because i had it replaced last year 12,000 miles ago, shoudl be under warranty still from when i bought my car last august with 37,500

$60 for getting the timing advanced... thats a rape... You know it takes about 10seconds to get that done, right?

It scares me that Nissan techs think you can't raise the timing on these cars...

You do it in the Consult... but unless someone around here has used the Consult, I dont think many are going to know.

If he tells you no, tell him he's a retard... because that is the only way you can do anything with the timing... then slap him, like this

i used to work at nissan as a tech they can raise is and the idle its very easy. go to ENGINE and i cant remember which option it is after that but if he works there he knows how to play around with it or someone else does so he should be able to. only takes like two minutes. i did it to a bunch of my buddies cars. so far with the aftermarket scan tools that i have used you cant bump it up them so finding an independant shop is not going to work unfortunatly.

ok so if anyone cares here is the update:
I went there and got my belt changed, i asked him to raise the idle and bump up my timing... again he said he can't riase idle, the master tech at this dealer station said its electronically controlled and cannot be done, only lowered. so i'm like screw it
I asked to raise my timings to 17 degrees and he did that but said the car idled at 1000, so i'm like ok perfect so now u can lower my idle to what i want! Also their master tech said that raising timing to 17 degrees doesn't do shit for the car but w/e lol
All in all i hate nissan! O and i got a free alighnment out of it and also found out my tie rod is bent, but he fixed the alighnment and it seems to keep it but sitll have to change my tie rod!

That master "tech" should be smacked... seriously. Of course you can raise / lower the idle. If they think they can't, or just wanna be an asshole, they shouldn't be a tech...
