+1 on the dyno. do what i never did lol

Awesome!!! I just got my spare in the mail today and will be sending it out to FFP tomorrow. I can't believe that you got it back so fast, I was expecting a month turn around. I'm getting the ceramic coating aswell. That looks like damn good quality right there. That'd be cool if you could dyno it, where do you plan on going? are they're any good dyno shops around us?
Offline

i'll be doing it at Boston Dyno, right in the middle of malden. mainly because its close to me. the other one that was recommended to me was dent sport garage.. all the way in worcester.

how much was the pnp and coating if you dont mind me asking?

i got a good deal from doing the core exchange gb (which is now over i think) and dyno testing.. so my price isnt the same as what others would pay, but you can check out the ffp vendor page for price listing or pm bob, ffperformance for more info.
Online

Im mailing mine out today for the exchange. If you want an extra set of hands putting that on let me know

Bob

Awesome man!
See, I told you I wouldn't disappoint!
Normal pricing is set at $250 for the pnp and if you want the ceramic coating (helps control heatsoak) it's an extra $90 plus shipping.
get that bad boy on the rollers and let us know what she does!

Bob I mailed the manifold today, you will get it on friday the 8th. I cannot wait to get this back!

How much are you looking to gain hp/tq with the pnp??? im just curious. And how much does it cost to ship cause these are big pieces

i think 10+ whp? maybe 10-15ish.. tests on other cars show gains around there but i dunno about the spec v
Online

Allen

acutally, i was surprised at the size of the intake manifold. it looks much smaller than it does when installed in the car to me. and two pieces make it easier to pack into a box.

the ceramic coat is just the paint on the outside?

Ceramic coat and paint are two different things. But yes the ceramic coat is the black color on the outside.

|Offline

yeah its a heat resistant coating to prevent heat soak. the $340 is definately a good buy for retail, and even better for the people that got in on this deal. Many people have spent what $200 for a cai that got them 4whp? I probably wont gain as much from this as illestfob because I still have stock cams, but I am going to bet that this does make some good gains. Right now my power mods are :cai, obx shorty, nismo catback, bsr, and a pnp TB. The manifold will be a nice addition to that.
Offline

Oh and just an FYI, I just mailed my manifold out. It weights 13 pounds and cost me $15 UPS from Boston to St Paul, MN

get some cams pulleys and an safc and youre pretty much set

Threadjack:
I am all about the bargin hunting on this car. I really dont want to pour money into something that will end up being a commuter. What I've spent mod wise:
rev auto TD: $50 shipped
MMI: $35 shipped
bs cut: free
TBB: free
PNP TB: Free (done by hand, came out great)
nismo catback: Used $250 delivered with 5k miles on it
OBX header: $100
and now the manifold: $93 shipped for a complete manifold, and then another $90 for Porting/polishing/ and ceramic coating
/threadjack

porting and polishing a manifold will cost you 35-40$ in materials easy.

To answer a few Q's in this thread:
Yes, we do expect ~10whp from the portwork, and yes, in general, PnP has some of the best $/hp you can get ;P (and it's not a bottle that you have to refill either)
The ceramic coatings used on the intakes (yes there are two different ones) help minimize heat soak. The black coating that everyone sees is a thermal dispersant and actually helps pull heat out of the manifold and the second coating is on both sides (on the flanges) of the lower intake manifold to minimize any heat transfer from the head. Again, helping minimize heatsoak. Ive already had a few say that they can actually touch, and hold their hand on the intake manifold after the car has been run hard, unlike before when they could only touch if for a second or so.
Normal pricing for this service (the free pnp for core deal is over) is set at $250 for the porting and $90 for the ceramics. ;P

did the baseline run today. weak power output, which was disappointing, but that will not affect the power gains from the ported manifold.
weather forecast looks pretty shitty till next week. what im hoping it to be able to install the ported manifold tomorrow before the bad weather and wait to dyno next week i guess. cant go against weather.
on a side note, there was a comptech supercharged s2000 at the shop. he showed me a dyno sheet and it was 300whp/177wtq hehe. the owner was cool as hell tho and pretty funny.

Weather was crappy for me too, 1st dyno was 92* and 2nd was 98*
That looks very similar to my cars 1st dyno...mine was 158hp 157tq before
Interested to see gains from FFP but mine had a max gain of 10whp 10wtq both around 4k and 7whp at redline, hope yours is at least as good.
Yours does makes me wish I had the black ceramic coating even more now

Id prefer rain over 100+temps, unless youre doing the install outside

Yeah, driveway mods FTW. Only way to fly. (My garage is too full of crap to even put the nose of the car under the roof.)

my garage got renovated into my moms home office. oh well, she makes her money
Online

Kevin

My dad moved out like 13 or 14 years ago and he still "rents" the garage. Meaning there's so much of his crap in the garage and part of the driveway leading to the garage that even if you could get to the garage, it's even hard to walk through there, let alone put a car in there. And the worst part is I can't clean it out, cause it's not my stuff. Can't complain about the thousands of dollars of tools at my disposal, but it kinda sucks having a garage I can't use.

on mine i can rest my hand on the IM and it feels a bit warm but never hot. my ground wires rest on it with no sign of melting or anything. before this was done i could not hold onto the strut bar it was so hot.
Offline

Kyle

well with it 110* here during midday, i still cant hold on to the strut bar or IM but theres a big difference on the temps, I can hold on to it for a minute without burning my hands but its still hot with the temps outside
