ok i know most of you guys know how to do this but this is going to be for the noobs
or people that dont know much about it. Dont worry this mod is super easy. From a scale from 1 to 10, its like a -2.
most of all that you are going to need is , throttle body bypass kit. anyone can get it that ebay, the internet, and mostly likely cheaper... a local auto parts shop
and dont forget the tools
1- 10 mm socket (i think that how you spell it)
2- screwdriver
3- needle-nose pliers (its better to use)
note: do the TBB when the engine is cold or cool, unless you want to get burn
first of all you need to open the hood jk (duh) ....
(2nd) since the engine bay is so small, we are going to have to make some more room. Take off the engine covers and the intake hose.

(3th) And then take off both hoses form the throttle body. Dont worry about the coolant coming out the throttle body, just try not to spill the coolant from the hoses. And then, connect the two hoses together with the bypass thing (dont forget about the clamps). And then, put on the nipple covers(im not sure what to call it) on the thottle body. And then, just wash up the coolant with water if you want. And then your done ....... AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN lol Jk ..... sorry i just saw dude where my car...

(final) just put all the parts back..... and have a test drive

PS this is my first time doing a how to

This prevents hot coolant from flowing through the throttle body, thus cooling down the tb/manifold and intake air slightly. gains if any are minimal.

and a little
<- that is not a flower pot, it is an Energy DomeOnline

My old honda prelude saw a consistant gain of 4whp from doing the TBB. Numerous people saw very similar gains too. It def does something. Did 138whp stock, and with AEM CAI it did 143whp, and after the TBB it did 147whp. We did it right on the spot and redynoed. Weather, temp, everything was similar and we saw that gain.
However, idle sucked ass once it got cold outside.

I hope you didnt pay more then $2 for this kit.
The 2 vacuum caps and the double sided barbed connector is only $1.95 with tax at home depot. Thats with NY tax which is some of the highest in the country.
I argued this way in the last thread on this. I find it far easier then removing 1 hose completely, and bending the other hose to the other side.

When I did mine i didn't even use that brass thing. I just looped one hose back into the other nipple.

I did a little bit of reading on this, and found that people in colder climates may not want to do this. I don't really think that anywhere in California (where I'm from) has "cold climates" (unless any of you disagree) but I thought that bringing this up may be good for those who are in cold climates.

+1 you do not need to spend any money to do a throttle body bypass

yea that why people can do bypass in the summer and when winter is coming, just put everything back to normal

hey, just wanted to know, if anyone could give the exact measurements for the items needed to do this, such as the size of the barb, the clamps etc.

don't buy anything. disconnect one hose from the throttle body, disconnect the other end of the other hose from the main coolant line. now loop the lines. no parts needed. just some pliers/clamps and maybe a flathead screwdriver to pry stuff with. I did this a few weeks ago. The throttle body loops back to itself and the main line does too. simple as that.

Aight sounds pretty easy...thanx plalm ill give it a try. Would you happen to have a picture of it so i can get an idea of what the finished product should look like?

no pics sorry i would go take one but my camera broke about a month ago. When you look into the engine bay you will see the two lines as shown in the 3rd pic above. Just loop one hose to where the other was connected next to it and do the same with the other hose. it should look like 2 bent loops.

Just out of curiosity, what low temperatures would actually cause a negative effect by doing this mod?
I'm in San Francisco, so it has never even snowed in my lifetime here (20 years) and I think its been longer than that.

I wouldn't worry about it. even if there was a negative effect for you it would only be initially at cold startup anyways, after that it will grab some heat anyways from sitting next to the motor.

if its get like less then 32 degree f the throttle body will get suck and sometime the car wont start
and also your idle will be rough cold weather in the beginning
since you live in SF you dont really have to worry

where are you getting 32F? that's the freezing point for water. if there's no water circulating through it then how would the metal freeze up? I honestly think it would have to be lower than that. how much I'm not sure.
