Recently purchased and installed Injen CAI. I plan on leaving it on year round here in Syracuse, NY and was wondering if the hydrosheild was worth buying or not? I am not paranoid about hydrolocking but would like to do anything within reason that will prevent it. Any thoughts????

I would get it. It may not be necessary but to me it would be worth it just for the piece of mind.

I drove around for several years with a low, almost ground scraping cai in my maxima. I never once encountered in issues with that. I drove that car through the worst of rain conditions. I even splashed up the biggest puddles in the road. The car never even thought about hydro-locking. All in all, I don't see how Injen's little bag can prevent water from getting through the filter. If it's porous, water can permeate. The only thing that bag is going to stop is that little extra bit of air that I could be getting without it.

I recently drove through the worst storm I've ever been through like flooded side roads and deep puddles with my CAI. I took precautions and made sure I was in nuetral or clutch depressed when I went through them and I got home just fine, just don't go full throttle through big puddles and you'll be fine.

Yup, definately going to grab one for the winter and spring months at the very least. Does anybody know where the best price is on these things????

I just installed my CAI the other day. Unlike the intake in my Max, this one doesn't even face the ground much. It curves back upwards a little. In my opinion, the angle in which is sits doesn't warrant and concerns for taking in water. You would have to be in water up to your headlights to submerge that thing! Sometimes, doctors prescribe placebos to give piece of mind.
