How-to: 07-08 Custom Grille

----let me just say that i have mad respect for anyone who has attempted to make a custom grill for our car, for it is the biggest pain in the ass ever. this is how i did it.. im sorry for no pictures but i will try to explain to the best of my ability and will post pics as soon as i can for you guys....

i started off by poping the hood(lol) there you will see two plastic screws near the hood latch.. remove those they will give you play to be able to remove the clips that hold the grill in place.

on each corner off the grille top left corner and top right corner are two long large clips. squeeze the tip of them with your fingers to release. now just push down on the bottom clips and your set. remove the grill. took me all of 5 minutes.

now for the hard parts... you need to remove the chrome border. i used a butter knife. they are held on by multiple little clips. be extremely careful as they will brake! the clips are held in by 2 pieces of plastic on each side that help the clip to lock in. you can pretty much figure this part out.

after the chrome ring is removed it is your choice whether to paint it or leave it. i have saphire blue and chose to leave it, but dont paint just yet if you decide cause you need this to act as your stencil almost. you need to keep putting the chrome border on the grill not all the way to see if you left any of the old grill behind..heres how

best way is to buy a dremel ..will save you soooo much time and is probably the only way to do it!. please please be careful i was on my last cut and sliced my thumb open the power of these little things are crazy.

take the plastic grill and you will need to cut out all of the honey comb. remove the nissan burger first its a few easy clips.  cut out the honey comba as best you can. make sure that you do not cut off any of the clips, and keep comparing the chrome border to see if you can see anything showing threw. your going to come extremely close to the clips! there is not way to avoid this at all! if your good with bondo you can cut some clips off completely!

now heres your choice to make. the two large lips in each corner i told you about in the begginig its your choice whether to cut them off or not cause they show the most threw the grill. i cut them off and i was able to line my grill up ok.

after you have completely cut out all of the honey comb and compared the chrome grill to see if it clips in ok.. now its time for the mesh. buy any mesh of your choice. i found black anodized mesh for about 40 bucks.

this is a where you need to become creative. i really have no idea how the other guys put the mesh behind the black plastic itself. it is flimsy and filled with bumps from the clips. the reason i think is maybe cause they cut the honey comb out alot better then me. but when i did it i saw all the remaining clips stickin out alittle and the cuts.

what i did was i layed the mesh on the chrome ring and made tiny cuts for the clips to fit threw. once the mesh lays flush cut around the chrome ring making sure not to go to close to the clips.

once done your gunna take the chrome ring and pop it back on......BUT WAIT DAMN THE CLIPS ARENT LONG ENOUGH TO SNAP BACK IN BECAUSE OF THE MESH THICKNESS.. yes this is the the main problem but its fixable!

what i did was drilled holes threw the main clips for the chrome and mesh to hold togther. you should be able to get 3 on the bottom, one on each side and 3 on the top. dont worry cause these clips are only for the chrome to go on not to go on your car. then i put tiny black tie wraps threw the holes and you cant see a damn thing. this gives you the cleanest look i feel.

once you have completely secured the chrome and mesh your all done!! ready to put back the grill. make sure you apply alot of pressure to the big bottom clips until u here them completely snap in.! enjoy you grill

Re: How-to: 07-08 Custom Grille

meh, its kool you did it yourself and made a how-to. I would have doubled the mesh up so you DONT see whats behind the grill. IMO it looks tacky. Also nismo hasnt made 1 part for the b16. Why advertise for a company that has done nothing for you. Kinda like puttin a tein sticker on a b16

Re: How-to: 07-08 Custom Grille

I never really liked the 07+ sentra, but this makes it look way better. I would make small changes such as painting the chrome black and using mesh that have smaller holes or using double mesh  (in a staggered form) so that less of the radiator is seen. Other than that, you did a great job.

Re: How-to: 07-08 Custom Grille

anyone who has made this grill knows that it is almost impossible to not see threw it hense a mesh grille. u are very limited on mesh u can use. i used actual automotive anodized aluminum mesh. but u can always make ur grill look like a screen door if u dont wanna see behind it
