i was talking to a guy yesterday and he was talking about s/c his spec and i told him im turboing mine. he strongly recommended to build up the engine first (sleeve, connecting rods, forged pistons, etc.). i knew all that was well and dandy if your trying to get like stupid huge numbers but i'm planning on running it a low boost. is it still recommended to build the engine first?

whats low boost to you at this point?

as long as your not running more than 8 pounds you should be fine and if your gonna go a lil higher just get meth injection to help out

has anybody tried going over 8 without meth?

im sure people have and im sure he could run over 8 without meth. im just saying if hes worried about it then get meth to be safe

no more than 9psi.

you should be fine then

no you don't need to build up internals for boosting, maybe higher pressure yes, but so far 400whp was attained with stock internals + blockguard and alky

i run between 8 and 9 with no meth. Sentricity runs 10 no meth. get good fuel and watch your tune and itll be fine. I was going to run 10 with no meth but after i blew a motor on an unrelated issue, i decided the extra two pounds wasnt worth it.

i was on 9.5psi on stock everything and it was fine, im gunna try to dyno on 13psi no meth or bg soon after i get my turbo back, if it doesnt blow then we in bidness. only because from what i was told by so honda tuners, yea i know honda but the build the fast cars on stock internals, that any motor can handle 15psi easy with the proper tune. plus they had a crx with a b20 running 25psi on all stock internals

well their engine designs are a little different also and lots of parts seem to interchange, usually aren't they big bore small stroke setups? Not saying if a engine is that way it works better with boost but~

yes you can run that much, you will need some type of piggyback system tho. You can reflash our ecu. A piggyback would be something like a safc2 or a emanage blue or even the megasquirt that gurov makes boards for

where can i find a good piggyback and also is it better to buy a kit its self or piecing out the turbo kit?

piggybacks are all over. it depends what kind you want. If you want to run megasquirt then talk to gurov, if you wanna use a safc2 im sure you could get one of the forum, and if you want an emange theres plenty of places to find those as well. Putting a turbo in is no small task, idk if your mechanically inclined or not but youll need to have a pretty good grasp on the subject. If you dont know much about it just yet i would research some more but as for full turbo kits theres treadstone and turbonetics. Personally I would choose treadstone because of price and quality towards turbonetics. If you choose to piece a kit together make sure you have a very complete list of EVERYTHING needed. The last thing you want is to be scrambling around for stuff while doing the install cause you dont have something. The treadstone and turbnetics kit are fully complete but there pretty much everything

Yeah just use SAFC-II to tune open loop.
