map lights removal

i am trying to swap my map lights out with red leds. I can get the plastic cover off but how do i get the bulbs out? is there something special i have to do or are they just that much of a pain to get out?

Re: map lights removal

i saw that write up and i can get the plastic cover off but it still does not help me in getting the bulbs out. there are the reflective metal/plastic things in there around the bulb and it does not leave any room to get the bulb out.

After removing the plastic cover you need to remove the philips screw pictured and the gently wiggle the housing free as it is held on by small metal clips.  Thats how I changed my map lights to led.

Re: map lights removal

I bought them here on Guam, for 12.00 a pair.  They are direct replacement for the peanut bulb that is in the map light.  I can check bulb number for them and you might be able to get them on e-bay.

You could just be lazy and take a look in your factory manual sitting in your glove compartment, all the bulb listings are in there.

Re: map lights removal

i just changed my map lights to blue. all you do is remove the center screw. then pull out the whole map light from the ceiling. from the back you can replace the bulbs. the one pictured above by anarchy is a reg sentra and is different. the dome lights are de3175 and map lights are 168. i ordered hig intensity leds offa ebay and are damn bright

I beg to differ, the pic I posted is from the interior of my SpecV, not a REGULAR sentra.

Re: map lights removal

im not saying your lying i have a se-r non spec v. i followed your directions. i removed the center screw but the housing around the light would not come out, so i figured i wasnt following your directions right. the housing was glued in and i like broke it pulling it out. so i found out that if i pull down the light from the ceiling you just twist the bulbs from the back and they come out. i have a 08 i dunno if they changed anything. but again im not saying your way isnt right.
