Re: looking for a straight answer

And the correct answer is................

D. Leave it alone.  The engine and head were designed to work at certain temps...  Some things were not meant to be messed with, that's one of them.   And the thermostat mod is a joke too.    just leave it alone.

Re: looking for a straight answer

I had a 150 degree thermostat in my car, but it was too cold, so I switched to a 170 degree one.  It helps out a lot, I could hot lap the car probably for hours at the track and not worry.

Re: looking for a straight answer

Stock car, stock exhaust manifold, stock thermostat...

4, 30 minute sessions on a 2.25 mile road course in S. florida heat...

the car never missed a beat.

Re: looking for a straight answer

thanks for the answers and thanks for the props cute02, and yes i am heavily modified. i was just wondering if i should change it for better cooling because of 15 psi and i have electric fans mounted as pushers which is a small decrease in cooling effect but is great for making room in the engine bay and pulling air through the FMIC. im just affraid of overheating.

Re: looking for a straight answer

ugh, gurov corrected me

i still have the 150 or 160 degree (we can't remember which one it is) thermostat, we just gave control of the fans to the standalone so they'd kick on at a higher temperature than they were.  my 170 deg one is in my backseat somewhere, heh.

Re: looking for a straight answer

Re: looking for a straight answer

i would recommend monitoring your temperature with a proper gauge and seeing if you need to make the changes. wire in a switch to ground the control relay and turn the fans on.
