I think Greddy makes a bigger stroker kit than that....its like 4.2 but its prototyped. Oh im getting giddy in my pants thinking about one of those going into a spec V!!!!!
are you considering this as an option for your little spec??
I think it is absolutely fantastic idea, but what do you want to know about it?

the greddy is a prototype...like not on the market. it was in a car in import tuner last month or the month before....sick though. JUN Auto has one as well.
maybe the 4.0 IS the one from Greddy I am thinking of, but I thought it was a little bigger.

look at the price.

Yeah, considering, but it could be far into the future (sad). Wondering if the hp is as good as i heard and what else has to be done, if anything, over the "normal" vq swap. Another question is this: My uncle owns a junkyard, I wonder how much this would reduce the cost of such a swap.
Offline

it would double the price.

u only need the motor IN the car to do a stroker. the stroker is all IN THE MOTOR so u wouldnt need shit else but a VQ in ur sentra

If you go stroker, I would say the rest of the drive train would need some serious love
You could technically reduce the cost of getting the swap done if you found an absolutely pristine motor. but the stroker kit would add multiple thousands, depending on which kit you went with. Money is the least of your worries if a stroked VQ sentra is what you are after!
would you be sending it to travis to get the work done?
if so I know he likes to source his own motors because he knows the quality is there and has said many times that people with their own motors tend to spend more money because of random OEM parts that need replacing
I think this would be sick!! but may be worthless in FWD but worth a shot!

VQ Stroker thread
Some good stuff in there

Have a nephew that is a mechanic that could prob. do the work. I'm not real familiar with what has to be done to make the swap. I know engine mounts have to be fabbed. But what else? Figure I can get a good motor and 4.0L crank from the junkyard.

The numbers that I heard are 300-315 whp/na. Sounds very reasonable I thought.

The VQ40DE crank will not work in the VQ35DE block... and the VQ40 is way too tall to fit in the Sentra.. plus, it's RWD..
I can bore/stroke the VQ out to 4.3 liters. We have our own crank/pistons/rods and use Darton sleeves.

what kind of power do you think that would be capable of ? ? ?

All motor, with the correct heads/cams and tuning.. probably 325-350whp..

GTM does them, im a z owner and a spec owner of course. For the DE they offer, 3.8, 4.0, 4.2, 4.5, and now for the VQHR a 4.7.

BUT i'd go with travis... hell, i did!

The main journals on the VQ40 crank are much larger.. Also, the crank arms would hit the block. You would have to cut the main journals down to fit in the VQ35 saddle, and then cut the counterweights to clear the block. By the time you purchase the crank, and have the machine work done.. you could have purchased a billet stroker crank.

So what would someone be looking at price wise with a 4.3L stroked VQ sentra?

Offline

check the prices on the stroker and prepare.
Offline

8K just for the stroker aint it? I'd bet it'd cost around 20K for everything...
Offline

Matt

shouldnt be more than 16k with fulll bolt ons

Offline

Joe

Well forget that then. lol. I could just keep the vq a 3.5 and turbo it for less.

Offline

Justin

you would get more bang for the buck with turbo hands down.Besides, the vq already puts out enough torque to hinder traction.I would think a turbo would be a lot easier to control wheelspin.
