Ok well i thought i would make a post about how i made my intake because it seems to make a differance and i enjoy it. I have a 04 Spec V and you can notice as soon as you pop the hood that heep of plastic and all the hoses coming off of it is over kill like for suction and power it is like suicide it is horrible. I got board one night and all i had was 25 bucks and i wanted a intake so here is how i made mine hope it helps you.
1. I have owned 3 hondas and i had a old intake tube of theres laying around so the i took that and about half way through the bend i took a saw zaw and cut that to make it have about 35 degree of bend or so.
2. Then i went to my friendly auto zone and i got 2 3 inch couplers that were 6.99 one black and one blue because they do not stock more than one color
but i dont have a show car so it is cool
3. You will need a Maf adapter with there also sell i think it was 5.99 just a little piece of plastic with 4 holes
4. you will put the end of the filter on the side of the maf adapter that will allow it and tighten down but to hard just a turn after it is tight
5. screw the maf adapter to the maf now the one from autozone will not match up perfect you can just you two of the holes caddie corned from each other and that will provide a tight fit.
6. now that you have the maf with the filter off the end of the maf adapter and the maf adpater on the maf you can connect the pipe to the end of the maf now i think the end of the maf is like 3.25 instead of 3 like the couplers so all you need to do is put the coupler in the microwave and it will make it plyable with means you can fit it on the end of the maf I WILL REPEAT ONLY THE COUPLER GOES IN THE MICROWAVE NOT THE MAF DO NOT PUT THE MAF IN THE MICROWAVE JUST THE COUPLER.
7. It will take a little bit of work but the coupler will go on and now that you have the couplers on the maf now put it on the pipe and secure it.
8. Now put the pipe on the throttle body this is what it should look like. P.S i am making the intake go down into the fender like the aem ones only with 3in exhaust piping from auto zone tell me if you would like to see a thread on how to do that thanks.
Yes i know it is not like a aem of nismo but it works the same and with the 80 bucks i saved i can get more stickers to increase my rear wheel horsepower

You have to get GT-R stickers there the only ones that work

what are the chances of the maf adapter working for thee 07+ ?

i did the exact same thing on my 06, but minus all the tubing. i have it laying around here somewhere and might do it one day. good job on doing stuff for yourself on the cheap, respect up +10.
just remember, dude, not everyone has had 3 hondas, so not everyone will have access to a bunch of pipes (even though they're pretty cheap).

Well thanks for the tip about the GTR stickers i tried and tried with the NOS stickers but it only gave me 10 hp gains i was looking for around 50 so thanks i will try that and i have
I also have no clue about the 07s literally nothing but that would kick ass if it did and if it does work you should post how you did it.

i just finished making my own intake yesterday and was coming on here to make a thread. i did basically the same thing as this but the tubing i had laying around had a 90 in it so i had to use 3 couplers. I just bought an AEM dryflow filter to go with it. I'll post pics later, mine looks a lil more ghetto tho cause i was one coupler short so i had to use one i had with a crack in it and cover it in duct tape until i can pick one up. either way, it sounds loud as fuck, and beats spending 150+ for an AEM SRI. DIY ftw!
pics added!

At Pep Boys they sell various pipes by Spectre that you can build an intake out of. Here's mine on the SE-R

In reference to the hose that comes off the top of the head and connects to the stock flex pipe....do you have to make a special arrangement for that of can you just zip tie it out of the way in a dry place?

some people just put a breather on it. im pretty new to this car so i dunno if thats a PCV valve or just a valve cover vent. either way if you just pull it the car may not idle.

When I have to build Intake pipes, or Inter Cooler piping at work, I Use Vibrant, or Spectre pipes.

If one was to go to pepboys, what spectre pipe would they get?

all i did was zip tie it on the bottom of the intake it already had a hole sorry i did not specify but yeah i would hook it back up you can always drill a hole in a tube if you need to and shove the tube in it if you can zip tie
o and with this set up there are no check engine lights or nothing runs fine

That wont cause any problems?
I guess if its going into an air intake anywhere will do if its in the air?

nah, it doesn't cause problems. you'll actually see all the turbo people with little breather filters on the valve cover with no hose at all. my hose is still there, it's just flopping in the breeze, haha.

Sweet, Im going to go to my exhaust guys and see if they have a spare peice of 3 inch scrap exhaust pipe I can get off them and some fittings and do this. I have the JWT pop charger but I wanna get rid of the stock flex pipe.
Maybe Ill zip tie a coffee filter on the end of the breather just so no crap gets sucked up, lol.

Ok so I went out today and found a ricer performance shop I didnt realize existed...it was actually my GF who spotted it. I picked up the spectre parts and got my intake together. The 22 degree elbow intake tube and 2 couplers worked perfectly with the stock MAF tube and my JWT pop charger.
That stuff was more expensive then I expected but atleast I could remove the stock crap flex pipe thing and resonator chamber. Ill get pics at some point.
BTW incase anyone was wondering I just disconnected that breather hose and rotated it so that it was facing downwards.

I might have paid more then its worth just cuz its harder to get parts up here but it was 20$ (CDN) for the elbow and 14$ each for the couplers.
Maybe in total 3hp if ur lucky, but it does sound alot better and gets rid of the shitty stock resonators and stuff. I already had the JWT pop charger so the new pipe maybe adds .5hp to that...? LOL
They had spectra pop chargers where i got the other parts but I didint look at the price so I wouldint feel bad after paying 100$ for the JWT pop charger.
They also have all sorts of maf adaptors and other peices if you wanted a CAI.

So basically what I need is the 22degree pipe (any cutting?), the couplers which bind it to the TB and MAF (right), the MAF sucker (from MAF to cone), the cone, and something to hold it to the fender? Or is that even necessary?
I'm painting this shit red lol.

Yeah thats right, they should have cones and adaptors to bolt it onto the MAF tube and you need those rubber connectors and metal clamps to connect to the TB on one side and MAF tube on the other, no cutting. There will be a plastic connector on the spectra pipe for use if youre connecting it to more peices of pipe so you'll take that off. I think they sold a mount to hold it to the fender...but my JWT pop charger already had one so you can probably just rig something.

That mount came with my JWT pop charger. The performance didint seem to change much from the pop charger and the stock tubing. I find the Pop charger makes it much louder and sexy when those butterflys open up at 5k rpm, after I got my exhaust done my motor sounded like crap till I got the pop charger on. The spectre piping I got cleans it up some but I cant say how much an improvement it is over the stock piping yet, if anything might just help air flow at the top end.
Looks less ghetto tho.

they should have this funky universal bracket thing with the rest of the spectre parts that you could use, id suggest making something urself to save the $$. They sold these little metal peices that looked like mecano or kenex that you could fit together to make a braket but it looked ghetto and not worth it.

Yea i'll have to look around. Mind measuring that bracket you have for me? I presume the hole in the fender is stock..I had a similar bracket for the GTO, but like an idiot I threw that out a long time ago. Hmph.

i made mine for 15$ my cousin works at autozone and they where getting rid of a bunch of the universal intake pipes and couplers. they were jus going to throw them away and i was like WAIT!!!!!!!!! ill take those off your hands lol they actually sell something rather close to an adapter for the MAF with a small bit of drilling(holes are like a slight bit off) but it works great my cousin used here discount on the filter and i was in business

Ur better off measuring with your setup and working from there mine is based on the JWT pop charger so youll wanna have something specific for your use (obviously close to what youll have but still...plus im lazy, lol). That hole is stock and you can use the bolts that youll have extra when you remove the stock airbox.
