Cause we're inherently smart and cool.
Why else are the smilies colored yellow? Plus I wanna see how many Asian owned Specs are on this forum and calculate what percentage that is of the whole population.
Post up where you live, what ethnicity, how old and anything else!

It's a mystical place where it rains rice during the harvest season, and tofu curd flows through the valley like the mighty Mekong.

Okay like the Notorious MSG....you need to rename this thread the "Asian Egg-roll Call thread"
On that note I'm not Asian. But I did stay at a holiday inn express last night. And I'm not being racist. I'm part of the smallest minority in the world Redheads...so understand it's all in fun. Thankfully you don't have the phrase " Beaten like an Asian stepchild".....

hah thats random for someone to call you that

Damn that's priceless if your name was....lol Nah but really I think it's funny, since most of us are born and raised here in the US... We tend to become whitewash from what me and my Asian Friends call it.
How do you know if your "WhiteWash"
You guys got any Ideas.....
To me one major thing that gives away that you are Whitewash is the word "Dood" Dude...

Offline

Allen

you have more white friends than asian friends! i grew up in white suburbia NJ somewhat. i was only 1 out of 4 or 5 asian kids until i hit high school. listened to punk rock, skateboarded, hung out at the mall with my goth friends lol
moved back to boston a few years ago and now i have only about 5 non asian friends outside of this forum lol. one of which was an "asian washed" black guy haha

I know what you mean... In Texas Asian drive Tundras... notin' myself and cams...lol Then you got the rich asians.... Mostly high end toytas and lexus.... Hmmm How asian is that...lol

Offline

Whitewashed? Hmmmm... lol it was the same for me, I grew up in a white neighborhood, and it really wasn't until HS either that I didn't start hanging out with other Asian people.
Sad to say, I can't speak my native language...
and it's just so much harder to learn when you're older than when you were younger. LOL, sad thing was that I knew it when I was around 3-4ish years of age, but maybe it was the lack of speaking it b/c I couldn't use it at school and neglected to use it at home...

Offline

Tuan Jimmy Phan

I soooooooo agree bro. Same here... I speak Viet like a 4 year old... And it's funny that is when I started school. I believe it's ture that alot of us that grew up with out that asian community tend to lose all reason to speak are nativte tounge.
Also did any of you have issues spelling and reading when you was young as well? I did or I was just dumb.

Offline

Yea man, I feel ya, not being able to speak the native language kind of does suck, lol especially around all my older elders who do know how and always call the house asking for my parents, lol.
And no, I actually had trouble with Language Arts too b/c my parents (and I'm assuming your's too) weren't born here, I couldn't go home and ask my parents about grammar and definitions of words and how to compose sentences. It's more like now I'm the one helping them write letters and telling them what words mean, lol.
And I always hated that assignment, where they would say... "Go home and ask your parents SUCH AND SUCH." But it's like... wth, my parents probably don't know too much about that... And I always hated the "GO HOME AND COMPOSE YOUR FAMILY TREE!" assignment.

i spoke very little chinese growing up. After moving back to Boston and connecting with the huge asian community I have learned soooo much talking to friends and people. some of the chinese recently immigrating over are surprised with my language skill and say I could pas myself off as a fob. part of the reason for my screen name lol
